I like the concourse menu but what about the ambiance? Is it nice? Upscale?

I have read about the monorail coming by- it sounds sorta like you are in the middle of everything- not very much ambiance.

Anybody have any photos of the inside?

It is nice. When we first got there, I thought "oh no - the noise of the monorail & chef Mickey's nixt door is going to be loud!" Boy was I wrong. Never once did I hear anything from Chef Mickey's and the monorail...the only reason I knew it was there is because my 2 year old DD pointed it out EVERY time it came. haha! I loved the Concourse Steakhouse. I do recommend it.

In its present location, don't look for atmosphere. It's quite noisy and because it's completely open above, there's not exactly a feeling of "intimate and upscale". :sad2:

However, they will be moving to a new location downstairs and with a new name (The Wave); once they do, IMO, it'll be a much more appealing restaurant. :thumbsup2

We thought the food was good, but not much in the way of ambience. You are right, it is sort of out in the open with the monorail going by.

If you are looking for a restaurant for a special dinner, there are better choices than the Concourse. If you are looking to stay at the Contemporary, California Grill has a great view. Other restaurants with a nice ambience might be Jiko, Bluezoo, Citricos, Narcoossee's or Artist Point.

Look Here http://allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm for information and photos.

I agree with you 100%. The two times my parents and I have been there, we could not hear anything from Chef Mickey's and seeing the Monorail go by was amazing.

My understanding is that The Wave will be Asian fare. Say goodbye to one of the best ribeyes on Disney property.

We picked CS for the reason it was supposed to be exciting watching the monorail whisk by....

They seated us under a soffit in the corner where we could't see a thing.
I wouldn't say it was an exciting restaurant by any stretch.

While we liked the food at Concourse, we've pretty much stopped going there. The lack of ambiance was one of the reasons. It is kind of neat watching the monorail going by - for the first dozen passes. After that, you don't notice it any more.

But the real dislike was that every 15 minutes or so there is a big celebration at Chef Mickey's next door and the whooping and hollering just bounces all around that end of the Contemporary.

Aloha,

When are they going to close the Concourse Steakhouse? We have an ADR on Dec 9 2007.

mahalo,

Funny, I don't remember whooping and hollering at the Chef Mickey....I guess I was too busy complaining about not being able to see the monorail!
:lmao:

We really enjoyed the food!

I was worried about the atmosphere before we went, but we were lucky enough to get one of those enveloping booths, so we didn't feel so out in the open.

I'm sorry they're not keeping the whole steakhouse menu/theme and giving it a little more ambiance.
