This is my first post

I'm new to WL family being that our first stay will be @ end of Sept. But I've been lurking a long time. Will be going with DH, DS5, and DD3, its our first family trip. Got a great upgrade of 56.00 extra a night!!! Is that worth it?

Does anyone have any first hand info or pictures of the WL concierge? And any good tips for me and my family? (sorry such a broad question)

Hope that MAJESTIC posts his trip report before we leave.
Thanks for all of your help..

Hey neighbor, Massachusetts here. We have done concierge a few times, but not at the WL, so I can't comment on that directly. I can try and address your question about the cost of the upgrade being worth it though. For my family, we always ate breakfast in the lounge. Unless you require bacon and eggs, or pancakes each morning, the bagels, fruit and cereal that are offered are enough to make a meal. Normally, the other offerings made throughout the day are more in line with snacking. One of the things that we saw at the Grand Floridian was that parents of young children requested rooms that were near the lounge and while their children were napping or in bed early, they would come and sit in the lounge with a baby monitor. I don't know what the set-up of the WL lounge is, but that may be something that might interest you. Also, you get the services of a concierge pre-planner who will make the phone calls and get your priority seating or show tickets. Some of the GF room amenities included fluffy towels, slippers and you could request a refrigerator at no charge. IMO, if you're going to be spending time at the resort and utilizing the concierge services, then it would be worth it to me. If you're WDW touring style is more commando and you like doing the planning and reserving yourself, then the upgrade cost is less justifiable.

Whatever you decide, keep in mind that concierge can be addictive. ;)

Hi Inthemood, and welcome to the DIS! We stayed at WL concierge last summer, and DS was 3. We upgraded when we checked in, and were REALLY excited about it. The concierge floor can only be accessed by using your keycard in the elevator, and the entire floor is dedicated to concierge- I forget what floor it was. You get off the elevator, and the concierge desk is right there. They had some little toys and coloring books right there for the kids. There is no lounge, per se, like the other resorts. The food is set up on buffet tables in the hallway of the floor. If you have ever seen pics of WL, you know that you can see up to the ceiling from the main floor, it's all an open atrium. From the concierge "lounge" you can see down to the main lobby- it sounds weird, but it's really cool. There are tables and chairs set up all around so that you can sit and eat or drink. In the morning, they offer cereals, fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, coffee, tea, milk and juices. All afternoon, they have snacks like pretzels, gummy worms, nuts, bottled water, pop, juice, lemonade, PBJ's for the kids. At dinnertime, they have 2 entrees from Artist Point restaurant to choose from. They also have cheeses and crackers, fruit, PBJ's and cookies. There is also a nice selection of wine. In the evening, they have desserts and cordials, which is really nice, and I couldn't enjoy because I was pregnant. The whole experience was really great, and it left me a bit spoiled. DH insisted on staying at BWV this past trip, but I was really holding out for more concierge!! You also got a good price for the upgrade. The staff can make PS's for you in advance, and they are very helpful in any way. DS's favorite part was the turn down service, because they leave a chocolate on each pillow. You're going to love the WL and the concierge service there. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me, and I'll be happy to answer.

Hi and congrats!

A $56 upgrade to concierge is something to be very pleased about.

Here's a site that has tons of photos including some of the concierge at WL.

The best advice I can give is to let the itinerary planning desk assist you for all your PS's. Even CRT can be done this way, if not guaranteed, but when is it anyway?

Have a great time!

Hey CaipiraBob - great photos from the roof of WL! Is access to the roof only available to concierge guest or can anyone go up?

Hi NotTooGoofy,

I'm not certain myself. The person who keeps the site www.***********.com may have an email address you can write and find out. You can also call the Lodge directly.

They are pretty cool photos, aren't they. These sites are how I get my "Disney Fix" until it's time to go!

*********** is a DISer. She is usualy pretty easy to find on the boards. She's the one that posts the restaurant and ride of the day pics.

She does have some amazing pics!!!!

Hiya, folks!

Thanks for the links to my site, I always love to share my pix.

Every day they take a family on top of the roof to raise the flags. You can ask to be the flag family, just ask at the guest services desk when you check in. I don't think you can ask ahead of time. They'll take you all the way up, you raise 5 (I think it's 5) flags and they give you a certificate and a voucher for breakfast at Roaring Forks.

If you're staying in concierge, you can try begging a concierge cast member to take you up on the roof. :)

I would agree that concierge at WL is worth that upgrade. We did it in March, having stayed in woods view rooms at WL on two previous occasions. Concierge exceeded my expectations and I would love to look back into trying to get a great rate there in the future. I'm not sure I'd pay the full whack for any concierge service, but they really did make us feel special. Like a previous poster said, the breakfast items are definitely more than enough to do you until a late lunch - if you like those sorts of items. Also liked the priority seating and the availability of a CM to answer any questions (not that we had many!).

Please feel free to PM me if you need more assistance!

John

No, thank you, Laura!

I can't tell you how many times I've sat down with my kids in my lap and browsed your site and others to get them all excited about an upcomming trip.

You can just hear it, I bet.

"Are we gonna go there, daddy?!?, Can I go on that?!?"

Your hard work brings a lot of joy. Between you, Tikiman and and this site we get by in between our "Disney Fixes".
;)

I would be interested about the $56 upgrade rate you got prior to check in. If you have any information that you'd be willing to share then I'd really appreciate a PM / email. I'm trying to organise a 60th birthday and would also like to upgrade to concierge, but at present I'm only being offered the full rate.
