Can you book concierge level and get a discount with a code? I didn't know if it was possible to get a room with a code and then pay the extra to be on the concierge level.

We are looking at the WL, BC or the BW. Any thoughts - likes/dislikes on the concierge levels at these 3 resorts?

Concierge level rooms are discounted despite what you may be told by CRO or WDTC. While the number of discounted rooms is usually minimal, it does happen because we've been lucky enough to snag discounts in the past. We're hoping there is a code in the offing for our June visit. Last summer (June) we were only able to apply a Disney Visa code rate since there were no AP rates available for our time frame. There were AP rates for later in the week, but not the full 10 days. There was also a general public code last year for CL as well.

Now, that said, I really can't speak to your question with regard to whether or not you can pay to upgrade (which I'm reading into your question) from a standard level room once you are there. I have seen other posts over the years where people have paid a differential to obtain the upgrade upon arrival. Since CL has become very popular at most of the resorts, I wouldn't count on being able to upgrade upon arrival. If you have your heart set on CL, then I'd book at the rate available, code or not, and then try and have a code/AP rate applied when they are released. Be aware though--you could be stuck with a rack rate since the CL discounts are few.

As to your choices, we've stayed at BC and BWI and both are great choices. We've not tried the WL since our favorite is Polynesian, but I know many, many people LOVE it! Enjoy your stay, whatever you decide. :flower1:

We were first-timers last year. Booked a week-long trip for August in February (AAA rate, BC concierge level). And then when the 7-for-5 deal was released in May our TA was able to apply the associated code for us. We were not AP holders and planned to do a lot of park touring plus extras, so it worked out well for our family of 5 (~30% discount).

BTW... we loved BC concierge, especially the Epcot IPO pre-planning office team, so for us an upgrade at check-in would have had us miss our favorite part of the concierge experience. From what I hear, the BC lounge is smaller than some, but very nicely stocked with treats at various times throughout the day -- the continental breakfast and evening cordials and desserts worked out well with our touring style. We stayed for one happy hour and were tempted by several more as they did include seafood offerings some nights, but we had our hearts set on trying out so many of WDW's fine restaurants!

Good luck with your decision! We will consider staying concierge in the future based on our experience. Would love to try BWI and AKL! :cool1:

Last summer I had an email pin code good through December 25th and was offered (by CRO) very good Concierge discount at GF, YC, BWI, AKL and WL for all the dates I checked (August, September and December), which were the resorts available at the time.

I booked our upcoming trip using the pin codes that were e-mailed out back in August. At that time, I got a YC concierge room for $125 less per night than the listed rack rate.

With the codes, you just need to call and see what's available. There isn't really an upgrade fee for the concierge level, it's just a matter of if there is a room available using the discount code. This past May I had booked a standard garden view room at the GF for one night. When we arrived, I asked if a concierge upgrade was available. They quoted me the difference between the cost of my room and the rack rate for concierge.

We have a room-only rate code for our Poly. GVC room. It wasn't initially offered when I called to change my room from AAA rate to this discount code, but then a great CM did some hunting and was able to apply to our CL room. It wasn't a % off, but a straight $ amount off, and the $ amount was the same for CL and standard.

This is our 1st trip, so I cannot provide insight into the resorts you listed, but great luck!!! :flower1:

Thanks for the information....I think I understand now. We are not dead set on have a CL room, but it would be nice to try it. I think what we'll do is hopefully book a room with a code and then either call before hand or ask when we get there what the cost of an upgrade would be.

Thanks again for the info!!

Have a great day!!

I had a standard room ressie for BWI Jan 6-9 2005, as well as a room at WL (woods veiw) before AP and room only codes came out for that time period. I was able to get an AP rate for WL in the same category, but not for BWI. They only had AP discounts for concierge. I finally broke down and took to $345.00 a night concierge AP rate over a less expensive standard view room just to see what it is like to stay concierge.

So the answer to your question is: Yes you can get a concierge room with a code. Sometimes it's the only room you can get with a code at a certain resort for a certain time.
