Concierge Upgrades

I traveled to Disney for Christmas and stayed at the WL. Thanks to this board, upon check-in I asked about an upgrade to conceirge. Got it for an extra $30 per night.

My question is does this apply to all the deluxe resorts? And is it the same rate. I understand that it is based on availability but if available.......?

Nope. Two years ago an inquiry at the desk about an upgrade to concierge at the BC would have cost me an additional $100 per night.

We tried to get an upgrade to concierge a few weeks ago when we checked in to the YC. The front desk clerk said it would be $40 more so I said we would take it. The manager overheard and stepped in and said the upgrade would be $100. But for the inconvience (which there really wasn't any) he upgraded us to a fantastic water view for free. It still pays to ask. All they can do is say no.

We got a free upgrade to concierge last September at the GF, and loved it so much we asked to pay for an upgrade at the AKL the next night. We were quoted a rate of $120 but they didn't have any concierge rooms left, so I guess you got lucky with the $30 deal.

I think that the extra cost for concierge varies from hotel to hotel based on the offerings that you get (I think AKL and Poly offer more food and cost more, but I may be wrong on that one).

Someone elso posted an upgrade to concierge (at WL, I believe) for $30, also. Maybe WL concierge isn't as requested as, say, Poly or YC therefore perhaps there were a lot of vacancies. If they get people bumped into concierge than that opens up more standard rooms to the public which are more likely to get reserved. JMO.
