Concierge Transfer Policy Question

Hello,

I started reading around and is there a gray area between 120 days and 90 days? Turns out my husband has a college final the day we were supposed to leave on our cruise and we would now have to fly in the day of. =( Is it possible to move the cruise if we are after 120 but before 90 without penalty? Wanted to see if anybody knew prior to me calling tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

I do not know about the "grey area" that you are asking about but as a college professor I can say that I and most of my colleagues have no issue with students taking their finals early. In fact, we prefer it since we can get a head start on grading. Perhaps your husband could send an email or speak with his professor explaining the situation and ask about taking the final a day or so before it is scheduled?

I read elsewhere that you can’t cancel obviously without losing money but you can move the cruise before 90 days hits. We already asked his professor, it was the first thing we did and were denied, concern of cheating. We figured we’d fly out Thursday night before, in all our years of college we’ve never had a final 6-9 on the very last day of them.

I believe it depends on the cruise and the official PIF date - not the PIF-so-you-can-do-early-online-checkin date. 120 days is the point Concierge can do online checkin and book activities, if paid in full; however for most cruises this is not the official final PIF date. Some cruises do have an earlier PIF - I think it’s mainly repo cruises and those with non-US departures. Check the cancellation policy for your cruise date. After that final payment date, you will incur penalty to change the date.

Enjoy your cruise!

Seriously, the prof is afraid of cheating? :headache: Geezee. I might be concerned if someone wanted to take their final after everyone else but not before. I hope you find a good solution. Any chance in taking a red eye flight?

The department actually had a pretty bad cheating scandal last semester so I think all the professors are on edge. We have the earliest flight out with an arrival at 8:30AM and missed connection insurance. They didn’t have any flights after 8:30PM and that would need us at the airport right in the middle of his final. :/ We have all the contingencies we can in place, just stinks.

Stinks. Sorry for the hiccup and added stress in your plans. Being an optimist I think it will work out for you. You are doing all you can to avert problems and once on the boat you will have your well-deserved rest. Good luck to your husband on his exams.

OP- Hopefully this worked out for you! I was just able to change a cruise date for a concierge booking, which was before the PIF date. Not looking for a refund but we needed to move the cruise back due to a family member’s cancer treatments (and we didn’t feel comfortable being out of the country in case anything happens). DCL was great in accommodating. If they wouldn’t work with us, then I was going to invoke the trip insurance. Luckily I didn’t need to do that. Again, hope you got your date changed without any issues!

All it takes is for one person to test early and share the final exam questions with others who will later take the test. That is what the prof is afraid of.

Cheating unfortunately is rampant at colleges, always has been a problem, but is worse in the era of Internet & texting.
