Concierge rooms at AKV?

I am surprised to see that a Deluxe Studio Jambo CL is still available through CRO for Dec 24th 2010 through to the 1st of Jan:confused3 :confused3 With folk mentioning how hard this is to book i wonder how this is available through CRO :confused3 :confused3 Unless of course a member has traded out there points for something else?

I am just curious tis all

This completely chaps my tush. The ONLY thing I can think of is that DVC is mandated to give part of EVERY room category to CRO. :confused3 The concierge studios have 5 total, and the value 1 bedrooms have a total of 10, yet they are both listed through CRO for cash guests. Especially since the views on those villas are request only, I will be really angry if I get a crummy view of the parking lot while a cash guest gets a savanna view.
But I am bitter like that. :rolleyes1

We don't really know what Disney does with the rooms, only that what they tell us and unfortunately it isn't always the truth.

We had a situation that now makes me think that they do save more room than we are told for VIPs and cash Guests.

Last year we were on a wait list for almost 10 months for a two bedroom Jambo Concierge. We tried to book at 11 months and while we were placing the reservation, someone swooped in and took our inventory.

We called and called to check on the wait list status with no success. 30 days prior to our vacation I was talking to a DVC Manager at MS about another issue. I mentioned the Concierge issue and the Manager switched us to a DVC two bedroom Concierge. I asked how could this be possible and I was told that it was a Disney secret.

I'm happy that we got our wishes, but it really makes me wonder what goes on that we don't know about.

Remember that a great deal of AKV is still unsold, the developer still owns a lot of points and unsold/undeclared inventory. I doubt you'll see CL level villas available for cash once the resort is fully sold. Disney/DVD are within their rights to pick and choose what units are turned to cash inventory.

It really isn't worse than the members that book prime locations for prime weeks and have no intention of staying there, but book solely for the purpose of renting the reservation out at a later time, is it?

It may not be, but we all know how most of the membership views those "people" who book the prime times soley to rent them out on a spec reservation.

I hate spec rentals as much as the next person...but, the point is those members that do it are not breaking any current DVC booking rules...just as Disney isn't breaking any rules by renting out the concierge villas for cash guests, or the people that walk their ressies are following the booking windows.

It's all a permitted part of the DVC package, and a solution may be worse for the overall membership than the way it is now.

Everyone should experience Concierge at least once. :goodvibes

My goal when posting is to present a eyes wide open prospective even when it isn't popular.

Everyone posts how wonderful a Savanna view is. In reality you may see a few animals and you my only see one. There are several factors that determine your success rate. We find that going to the viewing areas allows us to see more animals.

If you book a room expecting to be in the middle of a heard of animals you will be really disappointed. If you book hoping to see a couple, and you see more, it's a much better feeling. :cloud9:

Thank you for your wise advice. :)

I stayed in a 1 bedroom 2 years ago at the end of June. A friend who owns at BCV was lucky to get it at 7 months for her birthday celebration. The first night we had a pool view and we were disappointed. The next morning my friend went out to the conceirge desk and asked if a savannah view opened up. Luckily it did and we were able to move over to the savannah side but it was a handicapped room. Kidani was under construction at the time so the view wasn't that great. We didn't see many animals. The best part of it was the sunrise safari. It was very memorable.
