I am buying at AKV as a resale. Is Killimanjaro Club Congierge part of that concierge collection that I cannot book (unless I rent from a direct sale member?

There are five club level rooms available to members. They are very, very difficult to book.

No, when you buy resale, you are only excluded from trading out of the DVC system (except for RCI). You can use your points at any DVC property, and there are club level villas at AKV.

But, as supersnoop said, there are so few club level villas that you'll have to reserve the day your 11-month window opens to even have a shot at booking them.

The Concierge Collection, btw, doesn't include concierge/club level rooms at Disney properties. It's a small collection of luxury hotels like The Fairmont in San Francisco and Le Parker Meridien in NYC.

Thank you. I keep reading about the club level reservations. I don't know I will ever make an attempt for one for quite awhile, but at one point I will.

You might even have to walk a reservation to get AKV Concierge level villas. With only five two bedroom lockoffs, if someone books a two bedroom, two more members each book a one bedroom and three more book a studio, that only leaves on studio and three one bedrooms left. All it takes is someone booking the day before you.

I think that we will be more the value studio type since I plan to buy AP and head to WDW when the fancy strikes. We homeschool and we fly for free (although I think that I prefer to drive anyway.) I'm not particularly tied to one week over another. I just won't go near the place during the holidays and when it is too hot.

If you want a value villa, you'll need to book that at 11 months out. You won't get that on the spur of the moment. And your fancy will need to strike most of the time no less than six months out. Unless you only need a single night. Unless you don't mind SSR.

That is what I am thinking. I can plan November/December and even March or April. Those snow/ice months though are just too unpredictable.

After I close I will have 150 points for 2015. At this point I can't even do anything until next Fall. We might be split staying all over the place if we decide to buy the AP sooner rather than later.

FYI - CL at Jambo for DVC has some of the worse views at the resort IMO.

There are only 18 value studios; 10 of which are part of a lock-off room. You'll need to book well in advance. You're unlikely to get much of anything "when the fancy strikes.

I am aware that to use my points that I have to book at the 11 month window. And I will do so. But I'm not tied to a particular week because that is vacation time. I'm sure that I will be able to find something last minute, just not necessarily through DVC. But the fact of the matter is that we are last minute planners. We fly standby. Where I stay is step two.

I have that thread bookmarked. I have eight kids, the oldest turning 29 soon and the youngest being 8 years old. Well gosh darn it these kids keep growing up and going on to live their own lives. I still have four at home although the oldest of that group would much prefer to study instead of going to Disney. So we have maybe 8-10 years before the last child is off to college. So yeah, we are going to do this when the fancy strikes.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but DVC isn't for everyone. The way you describe your planning, I'm afraid you'll be very disappointed as a DVC member. The savings come at a cost: flexibility. Only you can decide if the savings are worth the lost flexibility, but by your description, I'm really worried you have unrealistic expectation.

Our biggest factor is what happens when we age out. Granted at that point I don't think that we will have trouble finding someone who want to use G-Daddy's points though.

Yes I do know that. That is why I bought where we wanted to stay.

I think that there may be a window between when my kids are ready to move on and the grandkids are ready to take over. Or maybe there will be a window when the grandkids want to take over and my kids aren't done yet. Hard to say. There is only five years between my youngest and my granddaughter. Who knows how many grandchildren we will have in 10 years?
