We will be staying a week in August in the Hawaii building at the Poly. Could someone tell me more about the food served lately . This our first time staying in a Concierge room. What do they mean by Sampling of desserts and cordials. I read the page on debs disney already and tikimans site also. I am so excited we haven't stayed at the poly for 4 years.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

They have small servings of multiple desserts each night. Everything from fruit to cakes, brownies and tarts. This is the evening menu we had during our stay last Christmas.

Sun: Italian pasta dish
Mon: Sushi
Tues: Chicken and Beef Skewers with Ohana's BBQ Sauce and White Rice
Wed: Lomein and Vegetable Spring Rolls
Thurs: Luau Ribs and Chicken Tenders with Vegetable Fried Rice
Fri: Kona's Pot Stickers and wings with Stir Fry Vegetables\
Sat: Captain Cooks Chasiur Pork sandwiches and Vegetable Spring Rolls

Each night they also served cheese, veggies, dips, crackers and fruit.

Enjoyprincess:

Any suggestion for groung floor garden view room. I asked for 1524. How is that?

Since you asked for a description of desserts and cordials I will tell you what we have seen in the last few trips.
Dessert offerings meant about 4-5 choices. We often saw two or more types of mousse in a chocolate cup--mousse basically means whipped cream with a flavoring of some sort--we had mango mousse, strawberry mousse, white chocolate mousse, kiwi mousse, etc. This was OK, but nothing too spectacular. Other offerings were fruit tarts, chocolate apple cake (weird choice). I have to say that there was never anything that was spectacular. They made a nice sweet bite before bed, but nothing to write home about, lol. I think that's why it's hard to remember, nothing really stood out if you know what I mean. There were Brownies on the kids table a few times, and the usual peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and I think oatmeal cookies on there too.

Cordials were Kahlua, Baileys, Frangelico, Courvasier, that type of stuff, and on occasion there was a bottle of wine still left out after the evening wine and cheese hours during the late night cordial hours. (not often though) There is also a bottle of cream or milk to mix.
As to the room request mentioned, my first thought was that 1524 would be far from the lounge, although I am suddenly wondering if garden view room numbers come back towards the lounge...? Tikiman's sight has a map, I believe that should clear that question up though. I don't think there is a bad room on the first floor really.

1524 is perfect. Right in the middle. The only bad room on the garden sie are the 2 last rooms toward the lounge. These are rooms X534 (put in the floor number for the "X") and X533. There is a housekeeping storage and service elevator right next to the last room and the last two rooms look toward the corner of the Samoa longhouse. Not a horrible view but not one of the better views.

Aloha

Steve

1524 is a GREAT room,I know because thats where I honeymooned in 2002.In fact we're going back in jly and requested that same room. Have Fun.

Thanks for all the responses. I love the detail on what they serve as far as food and drink.. mmmmm Love Baileys.... I am soooo excited abou this years trip...:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I heard they were changing the Hawaii bldg ground floor to smoking because they had so many smokers.. Is this true? I hope not my DH is allergic....

We'll be there the same week...in LVC. We are requesting a 3rd floor room though(non-smoking). Any suggestions on room requests!?

I did go on his site...and that is how I made the decision to request 3rd floor! I would like 1st floor, but we have a 2 year old and don't trust the possibility of her getting out the sliders. I didn't know if being too close to the lounge would be a bad location on the 3rd floor? I would like to request 2 or 3 rooms down from the lounge! Any opinions?

Was just thinking if I got an upgrade to WV Concierge in the Hawaii bldg is there a better ground floor room I should ask for?
