concierge,Poly - all sold out!!!!

I tried to book Concierge level A Poly and was told that tall the rooms are booked. I'm not going till 5/05. WOW, thats a surprise to me.

Does this sound right?

Maybe because of the 50th birthday celebration (Disneyland)kicking off on 5/5/05. There's been a lot of chatter that the parks may have a lot of traffic during that time. Keep checking back for cancellations.

Tried to book GF, Cl for 5/05 and they too are booked. I talked to a very nice guy over at guest relations. I asked about any big events for that time. so far non that he knew about.

Do you think that WDW parks will be pack for this week. I'm shocked that every concierge room is booked @ two different resorts.

I have a few ideas on this--one, some large travel agencies are holding blocks for those dates that will eventually be released. Another is that WDW themselves are holding large blocks for the many "invited guests" that might be there during that time frame.

I don't buy that all the rooms are booked so far in advance. I think WDW releases very few rooms for bookings so far in advance. As your date gets closer I would think that more rooms will open up. Even with CRO saying that these rooms are booked I bet AP and FL. Resident Rates will be released for your timeframe.
As Ducklite said, keep trying. Rooms will eventually open up.

Thanks all. I'll keep trying. It does sound crazy. I mean all the rooms so far in advance. Even if they were holding a big celebration for the 50th year........it seems that guest relations would know that info.

I don't understand about disney holding rooms. Or about that they release only a few at a time. Why don't they just have all their rooms avail for ressies and when their booked there booked?

When they did Walt's 100th Birthday celebration, WDW had holds on HUGE blocks of rooms in a lot of the deluxe resorts. They also were closing certain parks early, had entire restaurants blocked off. CRO didn't know about it, the concierge staff didn't understand what was going on as far as the restaurants were concerned. Finally I asked a friend who works for event productions in Epcot and he clued me in.

They did release rooms from the blocks as time went on and they didn't need them all. Just keep trying.

I was told that there are many Disney Executives staying for the 50th Anni and they requested the Polynesian Concierge for their stay.

Hmmm . . . now you have me wondering. We go every year the first week of May. We go specifically because of the crowds being lower and the weather. With everything you are all saying (50th celebration, etc) will this actually be a very busy time for this year?

What do you all think?
