Concierge @ Paradise Pier OR Standard @ GC?

We're trying to decide whether it would be best to get a standard room at the Grand Californian, or go for a concierge room at Paradise Pier, which cost about the same. We think the Grand Californian looks nicer and prefer the location, but we thought concierge might be nice if we could end up getting it for the price of a standard room at the other hotel! We've never gotten concierge before, so does anyone know what that would offer us or have any recomendations on which would be better? :cutie:

One of our favorite trips to Disneyland was when we stayed on the 9th floor of Paradise Pier overlooking DCA. It was a beautiful view of the park at night, and they synchronized the electric light parade to a TV channel in the room. It was great...I would pass on the concierge and go for the view!

My family had a Paradise Pier room (w/ Concierge) 3 weeks ago.

We would have B/fast, a mid day snack, an appetizer (& Mrs. Hound had a glass or two of wine) @ 5pm & the family would grab about 9 waters & 9 soft drinks/juices per day). To us it was worth maybe $60 - $70 bucks per day. (& maybe $30 our departure day).

But....we could have picked up waters/soft drinks & snackies fairly cheap at a store if we were NOT doing Concierge & kept them in the room.

IMO...If I had your choice, I would choose the GCH in a heartbeat. We walked through it everyday and there's no comparison between the GCH & the PP...to me it's worth $100 + more than the PP.

Let us know what you decide, & have fun. :thumbsup2

i have stayed at all 3 properties...this year alone at DLH and GC...I have done concierge at PP and DLH....the only way I would even consider passing up staying at GC would be if I got concierge at DLH and then again I would only guarantee that I would "consider" it;) but PP...no brainer here...stay at GC:thumbsup2

:) If you can afford GF I think just for the convience and feel of the stmosphere is well worth it. I don't think concerge justifies itself, I rather GF. I have stayed there before and goti in a whole $$$ for it but well worth it, I am going back there in September :)

is the dlh concange the same as the others.. would get brekfest? midday asnake, apatizers..?? what else if some one could tell me ty

I was faced with the same choices in fall 05. I went with conc at PP, because I believed it would save us money while we were there. I figured the snacks, breakfast, drinks would help with the budget. In reality, we should have stayed at the GC.

The PP was a bit further then we wanted to walk. So, we didnt typically make it back in time for anything of the afternoon or evenings offerings. We quickly discovered that water and pop are heavy to carry and we didnt like to drink them warm. We never used the DVD's / players that they offer.

I think we would have enjoyed a stay at the GC for the same price. It would have cost us a bit more during the stay to pay for breakfast, but I think over all it would have been worth it.

Another vote for GCH. We've stayed at all 3 DL properties, and if you get a chance to stay at GCH I would definitely do it because it's MUCH more luxurious than PP, even with concierge. I promise you won't regret the decision!

Is that the new Ratatouille, Sasha?

Cool pic. I'm guessing it's near the Pirate Show or Big Ship?

I'm getting a good vibe about the newest rodent at DLR. :)

Yes, that is the new Ratatouille! We were at DL last Monday and they had the characters right around New Orleans Square (right near the Pirate Show). The lines to see them were really short, I guess because not too many people know who they are yet.

PP I know that previewd the movie said it was great. We're going to see it the week of the 4th and I can't wait. I think I'm more excited than my DDs!
