help, I love concierge butnot sure if I should do it this time, gonna cost me alot more then a standard room but I have never been to CA so I booked it, 7nights, a little over $4300,00. Argh, help is it worth it, I am staying at CA grand hotel in Disney land, am I crazy or should I just say I deserve it and keep the reservation I have? TIA for your opinions and help on my decision. :earsgirl:

Hard to say. I've stayed concierge several time at WDW and once at Universal. I like it, but I would not pay too much extra. If you are paying a lot extra for it you could take that money and put it towards meals. But some people like concierge no matter what the cost it.

I rebooked the room, I got rid of concierge, saving $1739.10, that is for 7 nights 8 days........I can't eat enought snacks and drink that much water....the hotel has turn down service for all guest and other things that concierge has,,,,,,,,I'll take the money I save and spend it on something I like for me or my house. :cool1:

I've stayed in the standard rooms at the California Grand and I thought they were just fine. We had a room facing into the park and that was pretty cool.

Personally, I can't see spending the extra money for concierge. I'm not in the room enough to enjoy the little extras. I'd rather spend the money on something else. But....that's just me.

Unless the price was fabulous, I would probably only stay at the California Grand for three days. Disneyland to me, is a three day vacation. We stayed at the Embassy Suites which was less than two miles down the street. We had two rooms, two tv's, a kitchenette and a full breakfast everyday with snacks at night for less than $100 per day. The shuttle was very convenient and our bus driver gave us discount coupons that were on Coke cans at his house (he had his wife bring them in) for Universal Studios. I think we spent 3 or 4 nights in the Anaheim area, then headed down for 5 nights in San Diego, stopping at the Wild Animal park (part of SD zoo) in Encondido on the way. BTW, we really like the California Universal Studios.

We stay on CL but not all the time.

I don't see CL as being "free food." I look at them making hard to difficult ressies, easy for me. There's a value there.

I think you made a good choice.

I've always thought that CL was overpriced at the GC especially since you get so many of the perks that are normally associated with CL just by being a guest of the hotel.

There's a number for onsite guests only to make advance reservations (makes getting that hard to come by Fantasmic Balcony reservation a breeze!) as well as turn down service and other things. The only additonal perks I see that you get by staying CL at the GC are the snacks and that's hardly worth the cost.

However, I'm as adamant about staying onsite at DL as I am WDW if not more so. I think the strip outside DL is so overbuilt and ugly that I don't even want to know it's there! We stayed offsite for our last night on our first trip and the hotel was awful! It was such a let down after staying at the GC. The GC is a wonderful hotel, sort of a Wilderness Lodge kicked up a few levels.

It's also nice to take advantage of all the early entry days and the private pre-opening tour of California Adventure available to GC guests only. I think that alone makes it worth the cost of staying there.

We stayed for 5 days and could have easily stayed a couple more days. It's much more relaxing to have an extended stay and be able to come and go because you're just steps away from your hotel.

Enjoy!!:sunny:
