Concierge OBB

Friends are sailing concierge on their first Disney cruise next month. I was telling them about on- board booking, as I am sure they will get hooked, but I’m not sure how that works for concierge because I have no experience with that. I know that the onboard credit is no longer available. Are there other benefits to booking concierge as an OBB?

Actually, the only benefit of booking onboard a Concierge stateroom has always been the onboard credit since they do not discount the room rate. For that reason, they maintained the OBC for Concierge bookings while removing it for all other categories. The rules are the same as before, so the amount is based on the duration of the cruise. The placeholder works the same way.

They can request the booking with a host in the lounge. The host will contact the future cruise desk and get a quote and put a hold on the room. It’s not immediate - they manage it through email - so they usually deliver the quote to your stateroom.

They can also book a placeholder instead of an actual cruise.

If they convert that placeholder to a concierge reservation, they get the OBC.

If they convert that placeholder to a non-concierge room, they get the reduced fare.
