I looked at the pics of the concierge room - looks great! We got upgraded once in WDW at Contemporary so I think I have an idea what it involves, but not sure. We're looking at going 10/20-10/27. It's $4400 in a standard room for the 5 of us (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 infant), but an extra $2400 to upgrade to concierge level. How do I decide if it's worth it? We've never paid extra for a room before - we always get the cheapest room in the nicer resorts. I know the breakfast would be free plus some sodas/drinks to take along to the parks, but that's not $2400 worth. Why do people do concierge level? Just curious how you justify it. DH isn't excited about the extra $$!!

Wowzer! Definitely NOT worth it for $2,400, at least not to me! A lot of times I read about people justifying the cost of Concierge level because it's only a few hundred dollars more. $2,400 could pay for a whole other TRIP!

It does seem insane, doesn't it? I feel like I'm missing something...

I agree, that seems too high for what you are getting. I stayed concierge for the first time last October, but it was at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Since that hotel is much cheaper overall, the concierge was doable for us. We actually loved it there, because when we checked in we were upgraded to a suite (we have never gotten a free upgrade at any DLR hotel, and we stay there at least twice year). We paid for a theme park view room with concierge, and got a concierge suite with an amazing view of California Adventure. The concierge wasn't the greatest food, but was super convienent for me and my girls. We not only ate breakfast each morning, but ate the early dinner/snacks for our supper. It was perfect for us.

I don't think I would ever do concierge at GC, just because we are already stretching the budget to stay there on it's own.

Something is wrong with that! I thought concierge is supposed to be like $250 a night at the Grand. The prices for all three resort hotels concierge were listed in the e-mail confirmation for one of our trips. That just seems way off.

If you only look at the value of the food and drinks, concierge does not make financial sense. On the other hand, the cost to upgrade from the PPH to GCH does not make that much sense either :lmao:

Concierge is most valuable when the parks and hotels are very busy. A peak times there can be lines for everything, even buying a bottle of water. There is no waiting at the lounge. There is also no waiting at the dedicated concierge registration desk, which can assist with preferred seating for some shows and other reservations :wizard:

I agree. The upgrade is always expensive, but $2400 is extra overpriced :teacher:

Questions I would need answered first:

What is concierge? What do you get for $2400 (list everything)

It seems like a lot for me but then again I'm not the type of person to pay $4400 for a hotel room either (I know its for several nights but I still wouldn't pay for it, mostly because I can't afford it, lol)

As far as I know, it's access to the lounge & food in there (ie breakfast & evening snacks, sodas, ?alcohol), plus free DVDs to borrow, plus concierge service to help with ressies, etc. If there's something more, I'm not aware of it.

I don't think $4400 is too bad for 7 nights in a nice resort with 5 people. Sure, there are cheaper options, but compared to GFL in WDW it's quite a bit cheaper.
