Hi

I was just wondering what kind of things everyone liked to pre-order (prior to arrival) for the concierge to place in the room?

I have heard of the tuxedo strawberries, but is there anything else people like to have pre-ordered from the concierge? Will they place it in your room, prior to your arrival at the resort?

Thank you!

:wizard:

I ordered a "Pal Mickey" for my buddy when he and his family stayed at the WL concierge the first time. The staff must have really gone the extra miles in setting it up. He said his wife broke out in tears when they saw the display entering the room.

I had concierge get a Monsters Inc. & Lilo & Stitch photos & had them autographed. At the time I was looking for something particular and they went out of their way to accommodate my requests. When we got there I was more than impressed in how it turned out. They were both framed & autographed, which I hadn't expected. :goodvibes I guess I was expecting something of a small poster. I've also arranged for trading pins and pin & lanyard sets, autograph book(s) and a couple of other gifts for my family for this trip since MIL & SIL are going for the first time with us this year. They can do so much more than just food items. It's almost like having a personal shopper! :lovestruc They'll even order items from Disney Florist (if you know what you want, but you can also contact the florist directly to discuss your needs). Concierge is also helping me arrange an in-room birthday dinner celebration for my MIL's birthday as well. They provided a menu for me to pick out our appetizers, entrees and let me know what options I had for her birthday cake (which were a plenty!). They'll do their best to have your gifts in your room prior your arrival and both times my items were in my room and nicely displayed. :teeth:

We stayed at the YC concierge this past December. The pre-planning staff took care of purchasing a Pal Mickey and an Epcot Tapestry of Dreams CD. In addition, I also mailed down a small 3 foot Christmas tree along with some other gifts that I had purchased for my family. When we arrived in our room, the staff had set up the tree and placed the gifts all around it. You'll just need to call and give them your credit card information.

Last november. I wanted to surprise him with several gifts and they purchased all of them, gift wrapped them and arranged them in the room just beautifully. He got a pal mickey, a safari hat w/mouse ears, a remote control monorail and some white chocolate pretzels. He was flooredw with the presentation. And I was floored too because there was a gift there for me! It had a note that said "We always like to gift the gifters!" I love AKL concierge. Would that I had enough money to upgrade during my trip next week.

I arranged to have a Cinderella dress waiting for our daughter when we arrived. The staff also left an autographed photo of her.

Is there a list or a shop or did you all just come up with these ideas on your own?

I was in the lizard lounge thread that is now on the CB board and they've posted what type of gifts IPO had arranged for in the past. They had come up with these ideas on their own and then ask concierge if they can accommodate them. Gifting depends on what you are looking for or what occasion you may be celebrating. It can be simple item like an autograph book with an autographed character card or it could be a dazzling cake and a bottle of champagne to celebrate a birthday (I think there is one out there in the shape of a limo - LOL). I think IPO tries to do whatever they can in their power to make your experience more memorable. Tammi did point out one good thing we've failed to mention -you do pay for the gifts. I don't want folks to think concierge guests are getting cool freebies when they're not. :rotfl: ;) Some of these ideas are quite unique and I think those folks must have a creative flair. I'm not one to have been blessed with the gift of creativity (unfortunately). When in doubt, throw it out to boards and see what responses you get. You can visit the lounge lizard thread as well. There are always folk that would be thrilled to give ideas. :teeth:

I'd love some more ideas too :)

So far, I have a formal, small "wedding" cake being made by the Grand Floridian bakery (just like they make on a larger scale for the Disney weddings), as a surprise for my DH, for our anniversary night dinner. We're staying at the Polynesian concierge, and while I called the Grand Floridian bakery myself and spoke to them about the choice of size of cake, flavors, decorations on the cake, etc., Tara in the pre-planning office has told me that someone in concierge will go and get the cake for me, and have it delivered to our table at 'Ohana that night :) I am paying for the cake, and if there is a delivery fee incurred by the concierge staff, I will be more than happy to pay for that.

I have inquired via Tara about having a special Canadian wine delivered to our room, along with tuxedo strawberries, and she got me prices for those, and if I decide that I want them, she will make the arrangements for me.

She's made the reservation for the Segway Tour for DH and I, on the morning of our anniversary. She needed my credit card info for that, and she is keeping it on file to use for any other items I order through concierge :)

I have already ordered those new 50th Anniversary GOLD Mickey ears, and she is having them embroidered with our names on them, and they will be in the room for us.

So far, those are the only "surprises" that I have planned. Both DSs are very much into music. See my signature below :teeth: DS17 is a drummer in his own band, and DS14 plays the bass guitar and plays the trumpet in school. If it wasn't a conflict in interest, I'd see if I could get some Hard Rock Cafe - Orlando drum sticks for DS17. He collects them from each of the Hard Rocks we go to, and he also has people who visit other HRCs pick them up for him. I might email Tara and ask her if this is possible or not. lol I just don't want to leave Disney property, in order to get them ourself. Believe me, I will totally understand if she's not able to get the drumsticks. :earboy2:

I'd love some more ideas for DH, and also for teen DSs. I'll have to check out the lounge lizard thread too! :disrocks:

I know they aren't Hardrock, but you can get drumsticks at Rock 'n Rollercoaster at MGM.

Thanks, feralpeg! DS actually already has these from our trip in 2001 :teeth: We'll check there again this time too, because maybe they have a new or different style than last time.

Thank you so much for all the excellent ideas! I will have to have a good think about what special surprises I can plan :flower:

Thanks again! Keep the ideas coming!

:badpc: OK, I've looked and looked. I can't find the Lizard Lounge. Can someone tell me specifically how to get there. Thanks.

I believe it is concierge-rooms only, can anybody confirm this?

If you cannot arrange to have the hotel do it for you, I could pick up a Pal Mickey and deliver it to your resort for you. PM me if you are interested in having me do this.

WoW, thanks for the offer, but apparently you don't have to stay concierge because they said they would take care of it.

Thanks
