I know people have discussed ideas for gifts or tips for the concierge but now that I need ideas, I can't find the threads.Amy,at the BC, has been so helpful---I want to do something for her.

Also, with concierge,is it necessary to get a refrig for the room?We really like having bottled water in the room---does the BC
concierge lounge have plenty of water and drinks?

This is our first concierge trip and we are so excited!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I sent Amy a Cookie Bouquet fromwww.cookiebouquet.com . I thought she would be able to share it with the rest of the Concierge staff, if she chose to do so.

Amy is going to weigh a ton :) I just sent her Laura Secord Chocolates and Canadian Maple Syrup :p

While cookies and chocolates are nice, we have always tipped cash. Our last stay at the BW, there was an especially nice CM named Don and I purchased an american express gift check. He was very appreciative. And he didn't gain and ounce;)

Hi Tea Please...

I haven't even gotten to the tipping yet LOL.... this was just a thank you for some hard to get PS's... I haven't even travelled yet!!

I agree... money won't make you gain weight :p

I'm hardly Joseph Sophisticate, but I thought that tipping cash to Concierge staff, just like a Las Vegas casino host, was frowned upon or even forbidden; and that a tasteful (or tasty) gift was the appropriate 'thank you'.

Is there a Miss Minnie Manners :earsgirl: around to help me out?

Dr. T... yup, they take tips (I believe the figure is up to 75.00)

However the Amy we are discussing is a itinerary planner... she doesn't work in the concierge lounge and guests wouldn't have contact with her once they were at the hotel...

She is reallly sweet and doing a few things for me so I sent her a gift...

I don't know if I will be tipping any of the concierge lounge staff.. depends on what encounters I have with them, etc... last year I bought 6 boxes of chocolate and gave them to the AKL lounge staff, no one stood out for any reason to tip cash.

Thanks, >>^oo^<<, I really wasn't aware. (and that makes you look more like a bat than a cat - I'm ready for MNSSHP!)

Wow: I asked a question and had it answered quickly, politely, and accurately - any signs that the Internet is crumbling to dust? ;)

Thanks so much everyone---Amy was ssnt a nice Thank you gift for all her before we even get there work.

We are leaving for the Airport in 2 hours!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Im feeling more and more like an idiot!!lol :) I didnt know I was suppose to buy gifts for the concierge staff!! And had no idea I should tip them!!!!!

Ive been thinking about this alot!! Ok so someone please help me!!:) How much to do I tip? Do I tip everyone? What if I do not use the concierge staff for booking ps?? (I always make them the day of myself) Do I tip the people in the concierge lounge? I dont want to insult anyone so please HELP!!! :)

As a former hotel employee/part-time concierge in an upscale hotel, I thought I would put in my experiences. A cash tip is always most appreciated. These people do not make a lot of money and the tips are considered part of their income. Most would rather make rent than eat sweets. You only need to tip the concierge if they do something extra for you such as make reservations for dinner or secure theatre tickets and such. If they were to drive you anywhere you should tip around $20. This is not usually the case in Walt Disney World. For making reservations for dinner you might tip $3-$5. It is not necessary to tip in the lounge, but is always appreciated. There may be a jar for this. You might slip them something if they get a particular food or drink you like or if they are mixing your drinks. $1 a drink. You are paying the extra money to stay on the concierge level, so it really is only necessary to tip if they go above and beyond the call of duty.

For those of you that have sent gifts to the itinerary planners, do you have the address for these folks? I am planning on writing a nice letter to the manager regarding Tara and Aida who have not only been most patient but very efficient. I would also like to send them WWWD pins and a little something from Michigan. Can someone either post the address or PM me? Thanks...
