Hi there!

If we have booked a concierge room (we understand it is non-refundable), but we have another reservation already set for a different date. Can we move what the deposit amount into the same instead of just transferring it to an entirely different date? Therefore, we cruise one time instead of two?

Let me know! Thanks in advance!

I don't understand what you want to do.

You have a cruise booked and deposit made on one cruise (Concierge). And you also have another cruise booked and deposit made? Is that second cruise also Concierge?

And you want to cancel the first cruise (Concierge) and move the deposit amount to the second cruise?

I believe that's do-able. I know you can cancel a Concierge reservation, and, while the deposit is non-refundable, DCL will often allow you to move it to a new reservation.

If you move the deposit to a preexisting cruise that would count as cancelling your concierge reservation. If you move the funds from the cruise you will take to the concierge reservation and then move that one then you'd be cancelling the cruise you are taking and current rates would apply when you move the concierge reservation to it.

You can ask, but you are cancelling one or the other no matter which way you swing it. PrincessShmoo probably knows better than I though so if she says it is doable then it likely is.

I just tried to do this within the past few days. We had two concierge reservations but wanted to merge them into one (cancel the first one and apply the deposit funds towards the second one). We found out this is no longer allowed per my TA and DCL. You can only move the reservation to a completely new reservation- not towards an existing one.

DCL has modified their policies regarding these concierge deposits quite drastically over the past several years, and without any notice. In the past, I was able to move a concierge deposit to a non-concierge cabin (without any penalties) on the same cruise. Another time, I was able to move a concierge deposit to another concierge cabin on a different itinerary. Not any longer. Not only are the deposits non-refundable, but they seem to (now) be non-transferable. I was told that moving the deposit would trigger the cancellation policy. Recently, my mother was unable to travel with us, so we lost the deposit. I had hoped that they would at least provide some sort of onboard credit (as a good faith gesture). Nope. This policy is antiquated and overly restrictive. Combined with the astronomical price increases over the past several years, has prompted me to sail my final concierge cruise with DCL. I loved the service and amenities, but there is no longer any value for me with DCL concierge.

Oh wow I didn't realize concierge deposits were no longer transferable. I checked my reservation confirmation and yes, there it is in the notes. Guess I need to get that cancel for any reason travel insurance policy sooner rather than later especially since I have b2b concierge sailings booked for 2018.
