I have previously asked this question as it relates to II exchanges. If you book a room at one of the resorts in the Concierge Collection (specifically I'm interested in the Kapalua Bay Hotel in Hawaii); when are the points taken - when you make the booking or when you actually stay at the resort? Also, is there any time frame for making these bookings? Are you restrainted by your 11 month window or what? Finally, are bookings at say Kapalua Bay easy to get - is there typically any problems getting ressies when you want them. For those that read my previous posts - we're doing a trip to Hawaii in 2006 that will include a week long cruise and then a stay at a resort. I had thought about doing an II exchange - but it gets rather complicated because 1) getting an exchange either the week before or the week after our cruise might be a problem and 2) we've got some friends of ours going with us who are also DVC members and getting two sets of accomodations coordinated at the same time really compound the problems. So we've decided to just stay at the Kapalua Bay Hotel using points for right now. We plan on staying just 4 nights and then go back to Oahu and stay for 3 nights at a hotel on Waikiki Beach (paying cash of course).

You can make ressies 11 months in advance and the points are immediately deducted out of your account. If you cancel the ressie for any reason, they become reservation points and must be used by the end of your use year.

you must have the points available at the time of booking plus your $95 fee, you can book i think 2 years or less in advance,
you have a better chance go the route your going, i have heard many people getting the Kapalua Bay Hotel in Hawaii with no problem, now i your talking the marriott maui ocean club, forget it !
i have heard people were on the waitlist 2 years out and never came thru, i was on the waitlist 1 1/2 year out and so far havent heard a word, we leave for vb & bcv in 3 weeks as our back up plan.

enjoy your trip:sunny:

Options in the Conceirge Collection can be booked 11 months in advance - similar to booking something in the Disney Collection. (It is the World Passport/II exchanges that allow the longer lead times).

As mentioned by jel0511, the points are deducted from your account immediately and become reservation points if the reservation is cancelled.

You must have points available in the correct/matching use year to book stays for Conceirge Collection options. For example, if your desired CC stay falls within your 2005 use year, you will need to use points valid for your 2005 use year. You may borrow or bank as needed.

HTH.

One can request II options up to 2 years out but few resorts deposit units at more than 12 months ahead. It can be helpful to know which ones do and don't.
