Now that I have a few minutes, I want to offer a review of our first Club Level stay. We stayed at the Poly over Labor Day weekend. Everything went exactly as it should have. We experienced none of the slip ups or ommissions that others have experienced.
When we arrived, we went straight to the valet stand outside the Poly that states something to the effect: Concierge guests check in here. The CM called over to the Hawaii building and stated that "The XXX family has arrived." He said someone would be along with a golf cart to get us and our luggage. We waited at one of the benches outside for only a few minutes.
The CM with the golf cart took us for a tour of the grounds once he learned this was our first stay. He pointed out where everything was including the path to the TTC, the Neverland club, laundry equip, etc.
When we arrived at the Hawaii building where we were to check in, we were escorted directly to our room. That's a nice touch. I figured we would check in immediately, just as you do in a standard room, but with no line. Not so. We went straight to our room after being shown where the club lounge was. This way, we had time to unpack a bit if we wanted, and freshen up, then come down to officially check in when we got around to it.
Very nice. It's so much more relaxing that way.
Our room was a garden view room, and there was a HUGE tree directly in front of the balcony, so you couldn't see anything but tree limbs. That made it very private, but we were expecting a view of grass, and flower beds, lush landscaped greenery, and maybe a view of the quiet pool. As this was a resort-only (no parks) stay, we were looking forward to a significant mount of time relaxing on the balcony with a book.
When we went down to the lounge to check in, I mentioned our disappointment in a cheerfully resigned manner to Lawrence who was checking us in. He was very understanding and stated that this was the only room currently ready on the third floor (I had requested a balcony) but he stated that others might be available later. I mentioned that it didn't have to be a balcony, a patio would be OK, too. We were simply hoping to be assigned a room where we could sit outside, and I know the 2nd floor does not have balconies.
We were very wishy washy about whether or not we wanted to keep the room or move. We're the sort that are very undemanding and hate to make more work for anyone. Once we mentioned we were headed over to Captain Cook's to have lunch, that seemed to be the deciding factor, though, because Lawrence was sure that by the time we got back from lunch, other rooms would be available. We decided to make the switch. Lawrence was not aware of our "tree view" as the computer stated the room had a view of the quiet pool. To make sure that the next room would be better, he said he would personally go look at some of the views and select a room for us with a nice view!!!
How much better service can you expect than that!
While eating our luch, Lawrence arrived with our news keys, rather than wait for us to come back to the lounge. He was concerned that maybe we would want to charge something to our room, and the old keys would no longer work. Again, exccellent customer service.
We finished lunch, went back to the Hawaii building with our new keys, opened the door, and were floored to see the lagoon with the castle centered in our view, and space mountain to the right!
Wow! No way were we expecting an upgrade to MK view.
Throughout our short stay, Lawrence was always smiling and attentive and seemed so happy to please us and accomodate us in any way. I hope someone can provide us the address of where we can write to officially commend Lawrnece for his excellent attitude and service. I would be very pleased with our stay, even without the upgrade, because he was sincerely interested in our being happy with our accomodations and the facilities there.
As for the lounge and the offerings, breakfast was rather lame, but adequate, just as everyone here on this board had said. The coffee machine that made mochas, lattes and capochinos was a blessing as the coffeee was better than we expected. The evening offerings were good, and enough to suffice us for dinner since we had something late enough at lunch that we weren't terribly hungry. The desserts and cordials were also good and it was fun and relaxing to end the day that way.
All in all, staying club level was a very nice treat, and selecting the Poly for our first club level experience was a great choice due to the Hawaii building being in an excellent location, and the floor to celing view from the lounge was wonderful.
