That was the view from the lounge

My first trip I had 3rd floor (balcony) GV room. Very peaceful and quiet view.

My recent trip was 1st floor with patio TPV. I could see the castle and watch wishes and water pageant from my patio.

Honestly, for the trip with dd18 GV was perfect. We loved the lounge and spent so much time there for the view and ambiance I didn't need a TPV.

I think for that once in a lifetime trip, or if you have someone with mobility issues, or if you have young ones who will be sleeping and you will need to stay in the room the extra money spent on TPV would be worth it.

BUT for the money , having access to the lounge and building location and saving money for other things, you will not be disappointed.

That is why I posted views from lounge! The view was just gorgeous!

Also it was easy to RUN to lounge to refill my drink, or get a snack and take back to our room or out to beach.

Mickeynut I think Poly is much better than WL. Now is it 75.00-100 dollars a night better? Hmm. I used to think so, but I'm not so sure anymore.

My kids prefer cruising(the ultimate club level) over WDW. Our last 4 trips to WDW have been combined with a cruise. If cost was not a factor I would be at Poly CL every trip. I have found WL to be a nice compromise.

We are taking our first Disney cruise in December, with WDW stays before and after (ending with Poly CL ). My DH and I have cruised before but not DCL, so we're both excited to try a Disney cruise....and our DSs have never cruised, so it will be an experience for everybody .

What is a gold key? We are staying Poly CL NEXT month!! Never done the CL thing before. Trying to learn all I can. We are planning to spend extra time at the resort, if I can calm my inner commando.

It's your KTTW card. When you stay CL, you get a gold card rather than a blue one .

Just want to say "Thank you" to everyone's input. It really helps when try to decided where to stay. We are trying the Poly for the first time and staying CL for the first time in September. This thread has really helped out. So thank you very much everyone

That's not a bad idea. They might be able to get some SF treats for him in the lounge.

We are one week out from our YC CL stay and have not yet heard from the IPO. In all fairness we changed resorts at the last minute and changed to CL but they did mention that we would be receiving a phone call from the IPO. I'm not sure what the purpose of the call is or if we really need to speak with them since our ADRs are all settled. Is it absolutely necessary for us to speak with them?

Be careful! DCL is addictive. I cant say enough good things about DCL. If you cruise during the offseason the prices are reasonable and relatively stable. I haven't seen an increase in price from when we took our first cruise 2 years ago. WDW on the other hand...... club level is unaffordable for us without a really good discount. Unfortunately I think I have become addicted to club level. I'm not sure how many more trips to WDW we will take. It all depends on the discounts and how much they continue to raise prices. I know for sure we will have many more DCL cruises in our future.

I have never spoken to IPO. I really don't see the need unless there is something you want them to book before you get there.

I don't see any reason too. There are plenty of options for diabetics such hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Vegetable and cheese, and some protein options at happy hour. The also have lite beer and diet coke. Your dad will have to be disciplined and stay away from the carbs and desserts, but I don't think there is anything the concierges can do to help him with that. That is kind of up to him.

I have read nothing but great things about DCL and I can't wait to check out the Dream in person .

That's kind of how I feel. Now that we have stayed at all the deluxe resorts. I pay a lot more attention to price difference between the resorts. The Epcot resorts are always equal in price, but there is a big difference in price between the WL and the monorail resorts. It didn't seem that huge six years ago or maybe I wasn't paying as close attention. I always wanted to be on the monorail. We eventually tried WL CL and loved it. Now I can't bring myself to pay the extra money for the monorail. We always do a MK/Epcot split and rent a car so transportation is not an issue at all.

I agree. As rates keep going up and discounts go down, it makes it harder to stay RPC (especially during a higher priced season). Even with a 40% discount it's crazy. For our dates, taking a 40% discount off of an almost $1100/nt room, you're still paying almost $700/nt......by the time you stay 7 or 8 nights, you could have a whole trip with tickets and food for what it would cost for just the room.

That's crazy......I would expect October to be more than June. When I started pricing resorts for the week before Christmas I thought they seemed kind of high for "value" season. Once I looked further I realized it was no longer value, but peak season .

I've noticed that too with the WL vs the monorail resorts. There has always been a difference, but it seems the difference is a lot more now. The WL rates are still pretty decent (IMO), but the monorail resorts keep increasing, making it a substantial difference between them. We are a deluxe family and will always stay deluxe, but we may find ourselves going back to WL/AKL/Epcot resorts more often if the monorail resort rates keep going up like they have been.

I would call them with any requests you had. My dad is a diabetic too and I took him and my mom to stay at the Poly CL for Christmas a few years ago. They were wonderful about providing him V8 Juice in the a.m. since the other juices have so much sugar. They also made sure sugar free desserts were available to him in the evening.

Another hypothetical CL question: If you had to choose between BWI CL (which we love) and Poly CL (we love Poly, but have not stayed CL there yet), which would you choose and why?

I have stayed at both and love them, but I would have to say the answer depends on which parks you spend the most time in during your vacation. I am a huge fan of DHS and Epcot and love to be able to walk to both of those early in the a.m. If you are planning to be at MK the most I say go for Poly. The lounges, staff and food are excellent at both.
