Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

We just arrived home from our bw trip. I am sorry to saythat we were a bit underwhelmed. Club level was fine but nothing I would ever pay extra for again. We had a room overlooking the boardwalk. 4213. It was not noisy and we were right over espn club. The breakfasts were nice. Similar to the hampton inns free breakfast. They really did seem to have the same food each night just exchanging the skewers from chicken to pork. Other than that it was the same. The staff was fine. Nothing over the top though.
Overall we wont be staying at bw again though. It just isn't us. Too much in the middle of everything. Not really restfull.
We are going to do California in Jan and then another cruise next year. So it will probably be at least 2 years before we return. I am thinking wilderness lodge then. After the referb.
Overall we enjoyed the trip. I think we all loved hoop de doo. I cannot believe this was our first time in all these years! I had the best time rocking on The porch!

Is it considered a faux pas to take your refillable mug in for coffee, juice, whatever?

They have to go type cups with lids in the lounge so you could always take those. At least at the Poly they do.

Why not go with GV CL? You'll save around $900 that way. It was only $900 to upgrade from GV to GV CL and about an extra $900 for TPV CL so it should only be in the $1800 range to upgrade to go from what you have to TPV CL.

This is what I was going to suggest. We've never stayed CL at the Poly, but I hear the view from the lounge is amazing :cloud9:. Looking out at the castle from the lounge isn't like seeing it from your balcony, but for the cost difference, that would be my choice :).

I guess you guys are right. I just loved being in that main section so we could hear the band and piano playing in the evening! It was so nice!!! (I don't really care how close we are to the lounge)

If being near the lounge isn't a big deal for you, I would keep the TPV :goodvibes.

Glad your trip overall was nice, but I'm sorry you weren't too impressed with BWI CL. We have gone back and forth about trying it, but I'm worried about not enjoying it as much as other CLs we've tried :(.

Good question! I'd like to know the answer to that as well! :confused3

What I do is put my coffee, juice, etc. in a to-go cup and then pour that into my mug. But I have seen people filling their mugs right there out of the juice and coffee dispensers.

What are the afternoon offerings at CR CL? We've stayed at WL and GF CL and found them to be so different and I was trying to get an idea what CR would be.

DW is suggesting we go all-out on a Poly club room but my inner Scrooge McDuck is having problems with the roughly $3000 additional on an 8 day stay from a standard garden room to a MK view Club room even though the actual cost isn't an issue. Aside from having the lounge, is there any other advantage to the club rooms, even is it's something intangible like a little pixie dust?

I kind of chuckled at your post, I was getting stuff around for our Disney trip this year and found our Poly CL trip receipt. We went 5 years ago and paid $3710! That is $1300 more than we are paying at the Beach Club CL this year, same length trip. Dh and I thought it was kind of funny and then couldn't believe we paid that much for 5 nights. We loved the resort but the pool left a lot to be desired.

So, is it true that you're not supposed to do on-line check in for CL?

This will be our 1st CL stay, so we're learning the ins and outs. :goodvibes

There is no need since they should greet you curbside and take you upstairs to check you in. No waiting in line at the front desk necessary.

The price difference may have been closer to $2500 but I tend to round up. I appreciated the suggestions but the lagoon/MK view is actually more important than GV CL. It pretty much came down to a more-or-less guaranteed Longhouse over taking potluck. This trip is pretty much a poignant reminder that you only live once...and we can tell our friends we went to Hawaii. :thumbsup2

Side question that I may have to take to the disability board...I frequently use a personal ECV to get around which precludes using the cart. Can my wife ride while I follow?

We will be arriving at AKL late (after 10 pm), so I guess I should do online check in then since CL CMs will not be available.

I have done on-line check in at all resorts I have stayed at. My rooms have been ready on arrival and I have always gotten my room requests. I have also been upgraded many times. I did online check in for Club level. The cm at Yc met me at my car with my keys and my package in hand. I am a big fan of it. The only time I got a crappy room was at Wl. Luckily I was only booked for 2 nights.

I did online check in for the Poly CL and there was someone outside waiting. Of course I don't think they really knew it was us because we didn't go up to the main bldg right away, we parked in the self lot and dragged our luggage with us. I didn't have to wait in line at the front desk and the CM walked us back to the Hawaii bldg where they had everything waiting for us.

I'm so glad you guys posted this. I am definitely doing online for all of my CL stays. Every minute saved is another minute for the lounge, pool or parks! :cool1:

Perfect! Then I will probably just do on-line check in, like I've always done. I just like it because it makes the trip seem that much closer!!! :lmao:

I only have one request and the IPO has already acknowledged it, so I think I'll be good.

Honestly, I loved NOT doing online check in (CR CL). I was still met as soon as we got off DME and we were taken right upstairs. I liked the time the CL CM spent with us. One did the check in and one other one came over and get snacks and drinks for everyone else. We also got to pick our room out with the CM. It was a magical start to the trip!
