Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

Our exact dates is from 08/09/12 - 08/23/12 so that's where the difference comes in between both room categories based on the amount of days we planned.

However if you are planning on staying 2 or 3 nights then I can see why your decision is a tough one to have, although it's something a lot of us would like to be thinking over.

Now if this helps the main reason the main reason we tried the Deluxe Room the 1st time is because I wanted to get the guaranteed Boardwalk view. Plus in August 2010 it was only a 4 night stay and our 1st time doing a split stay after having just stayed at the Contemporary. So for the amount of days we were scheduled to stay there we didn't care if we ended up on the 3rd floor or 4th floor.

Although one thing I forgot to mention with their Deluxe Rooms is that the ones on the 3rd floor have bigger balconies compared to the Deluxe Rooms located on the 4th floor. So I guess now I have given you something else to consider when making your decision.

I'm thinking I do want a BW view, so I guess getting the deluxe room would guarantee that. Of course now you have me thinking about the bigger balcony with the rooms on the 3rd floor :rolleyes1. We don't usually spend extra for a view, but being the deluxe rooms have a guaranteed BW view, I know I would spend a little time on the balcony if I had that view. It does give me more to think about, but I appreciate all the info because it will help me make an informed decision :goodvibes.

We have a room booked in Concierge at the Poly in August for our Honeymoon :cloud9::cloud9:. I've always wanted to stay in Concierge and I thought what better time!

We didn't get the Dining Plan b/c I want to have a relaxed time and thought we could graze in the lounge and have a few special meals out. Then I looked up having the Deluxe Dining and a regular room and it actually worked out cheaper...my gut says to stay with Concierge but I'm curious from those who have done it - what are the perks? What makes the concierge experience better? What are the unwritten fun bits?

Looking forward to hearing your ideas... :hippie:

We've never stayed CL at the Poly, but have stayed CL at other resorts and we like the convenience of having the lounge to relax in as well as having drinks, snacks, etc. throughout the day :). From what I have read, the Poly lounge has the most awesome view of the castle :cloud9:.

I debate this every trip, and have always chosen a non- cl room with dxdp. It may be too much food, but from a cost standpoint it is a better value. I have always wanted to try CL so the next trip were trying it. Cl is a "splurge" a "luxury" or whatever else you want to call it. I really don't see any value in it as far as saving money on food. We have Ap's and I can buy the TIW card so that was also a factor in my descision. I'm sure I will end up spending more this trip when I factor in the additional cost of the room. We still plan on eating a TS meal every night and eating at our favorite signature restaurants. Like you I wanted a more relaxing vacation, and I wanted to do something different.

Are you booked with any discounts. A discount would narrow the price difference. FD is available for August too. I think to really enjoy the Dxdp plan you have to enjoy the 2 hour signature meals. My family does, but its definetely not for everybody.

Glad you had a great stay at both resorts :goodvibes. I love your BWI pics.....your balcony was huge!!!! We are taking our first Disney cruise next summer and we will be staying at a Disney resort before and after, but I'm having a hard time trying to decide between GF and BWI CL prior to the cruise . I have always wanted to try the BWI, but have a hard time being away from the MK area as it's our favorite. But from reading your review and seeing all your great pics, I can see I'm going to have a hard time deciding. My DSs have already chosen the Poly for after the cruise, otherwise it would be easy for me

We also love MK and usually stay at CR and only ventured to the Boardwalk Resorts in the last two years.

I was going to mention that my yellow room card worked on the CL elevators in the GF Main Building which was how I got into RPC. I wasn't really sure if I was allowed to be there. I'm sure I didn't get any funny looks from the CM's though. :) I am sure it's rare that guests cross visit the lounges. There was tea and scones but there was no band playing so I was not inclined to stay. :) FWIW, DH and I could probably have sat there a bit after our Citrico's dinner, since the band was in full swing by then.

LOVED reading your review of BWI and GF, turningleaf and thank you for posting photos as well. The photos of the Innkeeper's Club got me especially excited since we'll be there in a few weeks.

Have you made plans for a future visit? Where might you be staying?

There are also 5 Deluxe rooms that aren't on the CL. Maybe all those other guests turningleaf saw were coming from there or there are 14 cottages they could have been coming from, too.

oh, never thought of that! that makes total sense to me!

we may be back in May since DH has an annual conference near the airport at that time, then we sneak in a couple of days at WDW. we don't usually plan too much ahead of time, maybe two weeks ahead or so. The FL rates usually are as good as the bouncebacks. However starting in August my DD will be in Kindergarten so that will probably be the end of our spur of the moment trips. :sad2:

I forgot to mention that we did have some minor issues while at BW.

The TV signal wasn't working - it was cutting out, freezing, pixellated, etc. They sent someone to the room within 15 minutes and he said it was a loose cable, so he was able to fix that in 5 minutes. The back of that TV cabinet sure was dusty!

While I was out, DH said a maintenance CM came about a report of a loose bedpost. DH thought I had reported it, but it wasn't me so we are guessing it was the Housekeeping CM. DH said that the bedpost came loose as soon as the Maintenance CM touched it. CM said she couldn't fix it while we were in the room so she took the post away, presumably to be re-installed after we checked out. Looks like we were lucky someone noticed it, since that post could have fallen on us anytime. Funnily enough, the way DH brought it up was when I returned to the room, he told me to compare the two beds, and I didn't even notice a thing!

Slow draining sink. This is not the first time I noticed this at BWI, even non CL, and always report it when I get a survey post-stay. I always forget to tell the CM's while I am there since it's quite minor...but if not reported might get worse...

Thanks for the feedback! I think it will be fun to have done it...and I've always wanted to stay at the Poly. The good thing about WDW trips is that you don't have to do it all at once...it's not going anywhere and I'll be back! :hippie:

I agree......and as of right now, it looks like I will book the BWI when the 2013 rates come out :goodvibes.

We are staying at the CR for the first time at the end of this year (although not CL). We've stayed at the Poly and GF and decided to give the CR a try since it's the only monorail resort we haven't tried :). I'm not sure how your key card worked for RPC, but I'm glad you were able to see the lounge. I love how it's so spread out and has great views of outside as well as down below in the lobby :goodvibes. Sometimes it's nice to just sit up there relaxing listening to the band play :cloud9:.

The Poly is an awesome resort......I'm sure you'll love it :goodvibes.

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can still get coffee/soda 24 hr at BC/YC? From what I found, it was in trial for a while but I'm not sure if it continued.

TIA!

:dance3: YEAH! Today, I got my welcome email from the POLY IPO!!! :dance3: it makes it so real now, ADR day is April 1, and I am so excited to be staying at the POLY :) it feels so right

I know how you feel because getting that welcome e-mail does make it seem real, although it's even more real once you arrive.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I would like to know too!

Except for when the lounge was expressly closed for bkft and appetizer setup, the lounge was accessible and had soft drinks in the fridge. the coffee machine was available too (but seemed to be out of order half the time we were there)

I am booked to stay at Beach Club CL this September. Does anyone have resent pictures of the food items offered there? The links by UncleOrville at the beginning of this thread have been removed. :confused3 Probably by the OP UncleOrville.

Also, Does anyone know what restaurants provide the evening goodies? TYIA. :goodvibes
