Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

Hi there!

We will be at the Polynesian and the Wilderness Lodge Club Level in a little over one week for our wedding/honeymoon!!!

This will be our first stay at these resorts and our first club level experience!!!

Any advice or things we make sure we do at these hotels for our first club level experience??? We already made all of our ADR's.

Congratulations! The WL CL lounge and staff are great! Since it's your honeymoon, upon arrival, I would ask one of the CL staff who man the desk, like Mike (tall man pictured in the CL section of the WL thread that's hyperlinked in my signature) or Randy the CL manager (he always wears a suit), if there is any availability during your stay for a "rooftop Wishes viewing." They offer this for special occasions and yours certainly is special!

It's funny--I received the email late this morning, not long after I posted this question. But I do have another question--I posted a thread about it but I'll ask here too. Do you (or anyone else!) know if the BWI IPO will make dining reservations for us for the days we are at CBR? We're doing a split stay and starting at CBR, so will need dining reservations for that time too, but I don't know if it's ok to ask the BWI IPO to make those along with the ones during our stay there.

I've done something similar. Last year we stayed CL in the summer and were also booked non-CL for part of our Christmas stay. I actually sent them recreation/tour requests for both the summer and Christmas and they booked them all. Just email all the reservations you need to the IPO and they will probably book all of them for you, no questions asked.

We booked for Sugarloaf but I would sure love it if we got upgraded to the Main Building!

They usually contact you a few days before your inside the 180 day mark of making ADR's. This past August after making our December 2011 BWI CL reservation their IPO department sent us an e-mail 2 or 3 days after reserving it and I think it's because we were well inside our 180 day mark.

Now if you want to you can send them e-mail right now introducing yourself and etc.

I had been wondering about this too. We still have a year to go, so I assumed it would be closer to our 180 day mark when we heard from them. Not really anything I could even be asking them to do for us at this point.

We are on day two of our Atrium Club stay at Contemporary after starting our vacation with two days at the Kiliminjaro Club at the AKL Jambo House. The AKL was way cool, very well themed, very clean and posh and pretty. The CR is not as well themed, doesn't seem quite as clean or pretty, and the uneven floors near the balcony don't appeal to me very much. However, I LOVE it here at the CR.

The staff at the club level are far superior to the AKL staff in my opinion. Much friendlier and much better with the kids (DD5 and DD7). We felt like we had to keep a close eye on our little ones and not let them touch anything at AKL, but here at CR, the CM's interaction with my girls may be one of the best parts of the trip. Especially this Bobby (or Spider Bob, but not "Bob", because that's his father) character. Can't tell you how much more WELCOME we felt here than we did at AKL. They were professional and all at AKL, just maybe too professional.

And the Wishes fireworks in the rain from the balcony made me very happy that I didn't pay out for the MVMCP

I am very glad you're having a great time! I think the Sugarloaf CL CMs were MUCH better with our little ones than the AKL ones as well Again not to say we didn't like AKL CL...JMHO. Our kiddos LOVED GF much more, and the CMs really went out of their way to remember their names and what snacks they liked. Enjoy the rest of your CR stay!

So, last week I posted that the GF IPO had been emailing me *constantly.* Today...they email me again. I sent them a response asking (nicely) WTH was going on, and they confirmed that they automatically send emails at 180, 90, 60, 30, and 10 days out. So any of you staying GF, don't panic if you get repeated requests for the same information.

Staying at AKL-Club level in 1 bedroom DVC. This is our first visit to Disneyworld, Husband, myself and 2 young adult sons. Does anyone have any good advice for our first visit?

Just wanted to share: 15 years ago this week, we had our first WDW Club (then called Concierge) experience.

This was long before DisBoards, and there wasn’t much info on the net. We were in our early 50 then and had been to WDW over the years and stayed at CR. Poly, GF.

DH and I booked our December Disney trip late in the year, and “had to take” Concierge, because nothing else was available at the Poly for that week. We were so naïve…just knew that we had a water view and could get snacks at the lounge.

So, here we were – first time at Christmas and first time for Club Level.

You should have seen me - LOL. All the decorations as we arrived…The special checkin… The flower lei.. A quick drink in the lounge… The CM escorting us to the room and opening the drapes for a view of the castle! I’m sure that he went on to describe the other room amenities, but I was scrambling to get out on the balcony. I couldn’t believe how perfect it was.

By the time that we got back from MVMCP that first night, we’d been awake for more than 24 hours since we’d left home the day before for the flight to Orlando. So what did we do? We plugged our video camera into the TV and watched the Christmas Parade and fireworks again before we finally fell asleep with the view of the castle right out our window.

The rest of the trip was a dream vacation, too. We’ve been back for short (1 night) or longer (4 or 5 nights) trips during the November/December holiday time every year since then.

Such a sweet story! Are you going back this year, too? Do you still stay CL? BTW, I spent a lot of time in Columbus while growing up in Bloomington - I miss those White Castles!

Yes...we're hooked on CL. During a longer Florida trip this year we stayed just one night at GF on November 13 for MVMCP. It was our first time for GF Main Building - MK view (and we used our Disney Visa points for what was basically a "free night").

We're already booked for a week in mid-Decmeber 2012 at the Poly.

Try not to feel like you need to "do it all". I think that's important for first timers to WDW. It's just SO MUCH to take in. Just plan out the things you MUST do and make a list going down from there of importance becuase you'll jsut not be able to get it all in.
You will LOVE your accommodations! We have the same in Oct as well.
THEN plan your next trip! Once you go WDW, you'll be ruined for life!

It's just DH and I. No dining plan. The trip is 6 weeks away and I don't need much help with ADRs. However, the lounge and a place to relax would be nice as would be the level of service. We are night owls.

Do you think it's worth it?

I think it really depends on your touring style.

We spend quite a bit of time at the resort, so we get a lot of use out of the lounge & the food/drink offerings. If, however, you're park commandos and are just at the resort to sleep & shower, you probably wouldn't see the value in CL.

We adore it, though. For us, just having the breakfast in the a.m. and wine in the evening make it worthwhile, but we're usually able to take advantage of the appetizers & desserts in the evening, too. We also love having the space in the lounge as well as CMs at the ready to answer any questions. Plus, little things, like our last stay my sister & her family (who are local in Orlando) came to visit us at the resort to wish my son a happy birthday. I had ordered a cake for us, so my husband went down to the lounge & they gave us plates, utensils, napkins & a cake server to take back to our room. That sort of personal service -- which begins with separate check-in -- makes you really feel taken care of.
