Forgive me if this has been asked before but is the Sunrise Safari only limited to CL guests at AKL or any CL guests? We will be staying CL at YC and this sounds interesting. Thanks for any help.:flower3:

AKL lodge concierge guests only. http://allears.net/acc/faq_aksunrise.htm .

There is the Wild Africa Trek available to everyone. There used to be a different offering available to concierge guests everywhere, but it has been discontinued.

Thats so nice!!! See I dont understand, I emailed POLY IPO twice asking if they could put those cheap balloons in our room and one of their cards and was told I needed to contact disneyflorist... I adore the Poly but wondering if I need to switch to a different Deluxe resort..

I have a similar situation - my son's birthday is during our trip, so I emailed IPO to see if we could have a cake and balloons in the room for him. They were very happy to order the cake for me, and will deliver it, but said I'd have to contact Disney Florist for the balloons. It's not a big deal to me, and I'm thrilled they can do the cake, but would it really be so hard to put a couple balloons in there too? I'm wondering if it's some kind of deal they have with Disney Florist???

Looking at booking concierge level at the BW in Dec. Can anyone tell me what kind of offerings the lounge has for appetizers? We love the Poly concierge is it comparable? I know there will be a different type of food choices. Thanks for the information.

Can't speak for the Poly as we have never stayed there, but the appetizer offerings have a Greek flare to them as I believe they are from Kouzzina. Spinach puffs, chilled olives etc. Plus the usual cheese and crackers that all the lounges have. There are also a few different types of wines (red and white), plus beer (Sam Adams, Bud Light and a few others that I can't recall now- you can tell what we drank! :rotfl:)

Breakfast is bagels, breads, muffins, croissants, cereal, oatmeal, juice, coffee etc.

During the day snacks are homemade kettle chips, swedish fish, goldfish, trail mix, sugar cookies.

Dessert time is normally 3 to 4 different types of bite sized items and they seem to rotate nightly. (Personally, this was my favorite part! :goodvibes) There was also a small variety of cordials out at this time (I remember amaretto for sure, and I think a Kahula type option, but I don't think it was Kahula)

The lounge itself isn't very big, but we normally found a seat. The lounge staff, however, is top notch. We just loved chatting with Anita and Lorenzo! Also, you can see Illuminations from the lounge balcony (or at least the "higher" parts of it).

HTH!

Just returned from a 12 night stay this week. Another wonderful stay!:thumbsup2 The evening offerings are from Kouzzina. They had some sort of greek salad everynight-olives/tomatoes/cukes, orzo salad, or some other greek type offering. They had hummus nearly every night that also varied. They had an assortment of cheese and crackers and fresh veggies. They also had pb&j pinwheels and apples and carmel sauce every night. The pbj's were MUCH better than the Smuckers uncrustables-they were very thin bread with thin layers of pb and raspberry jam that were rolled up and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. The hot appetizers also varied. I remember stuffed grape leaves, crab cakes, phyllo with spinach, phyllo with goat cheese, pork in bbq sauce, pot stickers, spring rolls, duck quesadillas...

Can't wait to return in November!!!

Sounds delish! We're staying CL at BC but there are not many reviews of the offerings there. Lots of good reviews from every where else which makes me second guess BC.

I've read lots of good reviews of BC CL so I wouldn't worry. I think they even had hard boiled eggs at breakfast which BWI does not.

Last December, BC CL did offer hard boiled eggs at breakfast which was great for some quick protein. They were presented on individual small plates, sliced with a little garnish of dill if I remember correctly.

We really enjoyed all the offerings in the BC lounge last year and are heading back this December!

Here's the deal:

We're 3 adult sisters hoping to stay at WDW on a BB (40% off) the last week of Nov/1st week of Dec...

Don't know how long we'll be staying - but probably not more than a few days.
Middle sister recently had a medical event that made us realize we need to spend quality time together while we still can.

Would love to stay CL. Question is: which resort would you choose (keeping in mind we're all adults).

Recently stayed at AKV - while it's a beautiful resort, don't want to go there again due to the bus rides home at night. Can you say "my feet hurt so much - yet I still have to stand up for another 45 min?" Sister would never be able to tolerate.

Stayed Poly CL a little over a year ago and vowed never again. Prior to that had the most wonderful experience & view ever! Beautiful resort, but it's a matter of principle.

So here's what I'd like to do for my sister(s):
Go to the Candlelight Processional
Eat at V & A

We don't need a DP - none of us eat like that. That's why I thought CL would be more cost effective: just grab a cup of coffee & possibly some fruit or a muffin in the AM - and we're set till dinner... Can still take advantage of the offerings throughout the day if sister isn't up to touring... Also don't want to make alot of ADR'S as we're not sure how she'll feel. Emphasis is on spending quality time together.

Don't necessarily want to do the parks - but would like to see Wishes & maybe Illuminations. Viewing from the lounge would be fine - sister with medical issue may or may not be able to stand in the crowd anyway...

I know this is very ambitious - and expensive - but I'm willing to fork over the money for a once in a lifetime trip.

So - given the circumstances - which resort would you choose, and why?

Don't have unlimited funds, but I'm willing to splurge for this event.

Other than the 2 resorts listed above - what would you do? And do you think we have a chance at CP? As of tonite, V&A is available...

TIA!

I just booked 7 nights gv cl at poly and 5 nights cl yc gv(I think I am going to try to change to 6 nights tomorrow) for next April/May. This will be our first cl stay. Any thoughts? Opinions? What can expect from each CL? We have stayed at poly 3 times and loved it. We have never stayed at yc, but we are staying at bc 1 night non cl next month after disney dream cruise. Thats should give me an idea if I like the resort. I have booked cl before, but always ended up switching to dxdp non cl. Now that my oldest will be a disney adult I am not sure dxdp is the best option. Any thoughts? Are these good choices?

So sorry to hear about your sister.

I would consider CR for view of Wishes and easy monorail access to V&A or BWI for easy access to Epcot and more "adult" feel of lounge and more resort feel.

Only problem with BWI CL is bus ride back from MK and access to V&A but you could taxi to/from V&A. Also the rooms are a bit of a walk from the elevators. Could you rent sister an ECV offsite-then she'd be sure to have a seat on the bus and while waiting for one?

You're a thoughtful sister:hug:. I would try GF or WL. GF has V & A its also close enough to watch Wishes and you could ride monorail to TTC & transfer to CP @ Epcot. Its suppose to have a wonderful club level as well. As for WL, cheaper than monorail resorts but still deluxe with wonderful CL, also close enough to monorail to get to other activities & all in one buliding so its easier to get around for your sister, you might also enjoy a boat ride to V & A! :goodvibes
princess:CR is a nice alternative, adult for sure with nice gift shops and viewing of Wishes.

We are currently booked in YC-Garden-Club. If I understand correctly, all the club rooms are on the 5th floor?
We have a little mobility issue with walking long distances.
How hard or easy is it getting to the bus stops? Walking to Epcot?
I've read other reports of people saying how large and spread out the resort is, with long and winding hallways. Is this also true with 5th floor club rooms?

If your younger children are still in strollers I would stay at Poly for the time it takes to complete your touring of MK. The monorail is sooo convenient, better than buses. At the YC and BC you can walk to Epcot....wonderful plus.

I prefer either the YC or BC and I give a slight edge to YC's club level...just a slight edge but even so we mostly stay at the BC....just feels like home to me.

There are several reasons why I prefer Club level:

The ease of check-in. It's a stress free way to begin your stay. So civilized, the CMs sit at a desk in the club lobby. You sit across from them and check in. Your family can wait in the nearby lounge area. There's a variety of beverages and snacks. The lounge has a tv and balcony for additional seating.

Its usually quieter on the club level.

Early morning at the lounge. I get up earlier than anyone else in the family. I shower, dress, grab a newspaper and have coffee and bagel - read all the newspapers before the rest of the family is ready to tour.

The lounge is an extra room. Especially handy when the kids are watching silly programming and its distracting to read in the room. You're still close by but away....

Whenever we stay Club level everyone is just generally more at ease. The whole vacation ends up being 100% quality time. No melt downs for a drink or snack. Just run down the hallway and grab what they need. Priceless!

Course the evening cordials are wonderful! No adult melt downs either.;)

Dining has never been an attraction for us....we have tried it twice. The last time we spent our departure morning in Marketplace buying 12 people breakfast. It actually was pretty fun but a waste of money for us.

We have eaten at all the restaurants at Disney. We now only splurge on LeCellier, Toyko Dining and Flying Fish and then split our meals. Dining is not where we chose to spend our money. Club level beats dining for us.

Also the time associated with dining plan is wasteful to us. Table service can consume hours.

You will love your stay at YC or BC...there is no wrong choice.

PS. Your oldest will love SAB

We were at AKL in the middle of August. Really enjoyed the lounge and the club level CMs were fantastic.

We were there for seven days and were in the lounge at all times of the day. It was never crowded. There was always a place to sit down.

They continued stocking the food for each session right up until they began breaking it down. If they ran out of something, they'd replenish it. Before we left for our trip, I read several posts from people at various resorts complaining that if you weren't there right at the start of the presentation, all the food would be gone. That wasn't our experience at all.

Also, everyone came dressed. No pajamas. No barefeet.

Breakfast was bagels, croissants, cereal, oatmeal, quinoa (which I never tried but my wife enjoyed), fruit and slap yo' mamma good pastries. The cinnamon rolls and chocolate croissants were outstanding. They also have an expresso machine and coffee. And yes, they have to-go cups with lids. They also have juice (including my new favorite, mango juice) and water.

I can't remember what mid-morning/afternoon snacks were, I think goldfish, kettle chips, yogurt preztels and gummy bears.

For tea they had scones.

Appetizers were surprisingly good. They had two hot options, usually food I couldn't immediately identify (in other words, it wasn't meatballs or shrimp) but I tried everything and it was always good. One night they had a cold tomato bisque which even my 4 year old thought was the bomb diggity. They'd also have veggies, cheese, humus and ham and cheese deals.

Desserts were nondescript brownies, rice crispie deals, cookies and some tart looking things.

But the club lounge is worth the cost for the African Smoothie. Good night nurse! They start serving it after breakfast and it stays out until they close. Unbelievably good! Even better mixed with some Sprite.

On our arrival day, as we were settling into our room, a club level cm came to bring us a gift for our anniversary (two wooden giraffes), some Happy Anniversary badges and some chocolate animal lollipops for all of us. Really nice and unexpected.

We had requested a bunk bed room and received one. The room was pretty much like anyother room I reckon. But it was spotlessly clean. It also seemed like we received additional bath products. We received toothbrushes, after-sun gel and mouthwash (or was that a hint?).

The lounge CMs were very attentive and even learned our names (which was impressive in that I don't recall ever identifying myself specifically), but sure enough I was addressed as Mr. ZZUB and welcomed a handful of times.

All club level rooms are on the 4th floor with an Arusha Savannah view but we didn't find the schlep to the lounge to be overly annoying. Yes, it would be ideal if our room was only a few feet away, but it wasn't that far that it ever prevented us from visiting the lounge. It probably helped, however, that we weren't at the end of one of those massively long AKL corridors.

Only complaint about club level: no one met us at check in. I told the bellman we were staying club level but he was unable to find a CM, so he directed us to the desk in the lobby. There wasn't much of a line, so I didn't mind, but in a perfect world, a CM would have been there to greet us. Since that is the only negative comment, I think the AKL club level was worth the money.

I'll answer any questions y'all have.

:moped:

Thanks for your AKL report! We will be staying AKL CL next year & I can't wait! Did you put in a request for where along the 4th floor you wanted your room to be?

We are currently booked in YC-Garden-Club. If I understand correctly, all the club rooms are on the 5th floor?

Yes, all of the CL rooms (except for some of the deluxe mini-suites) are on the 5th floor.

We have a little mobility issue with walking long distances.
How hard or easy is it getting to the bus stops? Walking to Epcot?

The bus stop at the YC is about 75 - 100 feet from the front entrance - all level ground. From the YC, the walk to Epcot is probably about 15 - 20 minutes or so.

I've read other reports of people saying how large and spread out the resort is, with long and winding hallways. Is this also true with 5th floor club rooms?

The hallways on the 5th floor are pretty much the same as on other floors. To cut down on the walk in the halls, I would suggest requesting a room near the lounge and elevators. The only downside to that location is that anyone staying further away has to walk by your room, so probably a little noisier.

We were at the YC last week and thought the Club Level there far surpassed anything else we've experienced at any WDW resort. Enjoy your stay - we WILL be staying there again!

Did you put in a request for where along the 4th floor you wanted your room to be?
No. Only requested bunk bed rooms. When we checked in, the CM told us we had a bunk bed room and showed us where our room would be. We were pretty happy with it.

zzub-nice to hear your good review of AKL CL. I enjoyed my 2 stays there.

I will go to WDW next May for my birthday and likely take my DD(she'll be 9 by then) with me. I've stayed BWI CL the last 4 trips and just love it but DD would prefer AKL CL-she's been there before too. I really ought to just stay at Pop though.
