Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

I need information on Poly CL.

We always stay BC CL and love it. This year we are doing two nights at the Poly before our 15 night stay at BC CL. Our original plan was to just stay in a gv room at the Poly. When the discounts came out today there weren't any gv for our two days so we ended up booking gv cl and it was cheaper than gv rack rate!

So now I need the low down on the Poly CL.
From what I gathered all the breakfast items are about the same in all the CL's, but what about the evening appetizers?

We booked a gv cl room and made a request for the third floor. Any particularly good or bad gv cl rooms I should know about?

Thanks!

Well I still need it because I like reading stories of others who are more crazier then us when it comes to always switching resorts, lol. Besides that who knows what will happen in the future if we finally decide to try out the Grand Floridian.

You are welcome to visit us at Sugarloaf in August CRFan :goodvibes

I haven't stayed SL, but I stayed RPC (which has the same offerings) and I have stayed BWI.

The offerings at GF are better (more selection each night, plus champagne).

BWI is small, and it can get crowded in the AM. But their lounge staff is the friendliest I have ever met. Also BWI's IPO office is a MILLION times more responsive than the GF. It was like pulling teeth to get a response from the GF (which is such a shame for the flagship resort :sad2:)

i'm glad to hear that BWI's team is better than GF's 'cause i was under-impressed w/GFs... they didn't respond to my emails at all...

my biggest concern is that we have two children w/food allergies and while GF CMs didn't address it via email at all (just told me to go to SPecial Diets, i was hoping something more personalized) they did step up once we were there...

what is the email for BWI Innkeepers' Club?

I just switched my reservation from Poly club level to Beach Club standard view club level. Did I make a mistake? Someone tell me the good stuff about beach club club lev. How bad will standard view be? Is the club on the same floor as room? Only there for two nights...kids should like stormalong bay!

Hello:

If you have stayed CL at BC, please tell me what you thought. We are looking at GV or Deluxe. All comments welcome. Thanks.

We've stayed at both gv cl rooms at BC and a deluxe cl room at BC.

We love BC CL!

The gv and lv cl rooms are all on the 5th floor, with the lounge.

There are six deluxe club rooms 1557, 2557, 3557, 4557, 3691 and 4691.
They have a lot more space, but are not on the same floor as the lounge.

Funny we stayed at Sugarloaf this past fall, and I found the response to my e-mails to be quick and all my questions answered thoroughly. There were 10 of us on this trip and there were quite a few question, not one of us had any complaints.

We will be staying at BWI CL this May, while I haven't contacted anyone there, neither have they contacted me. The only questions I've had are basic little questions about the resort which are answered on this web site. I book through Dreams Unlimited, they do a questionnaire, and they make some of my early ADR, were not big planners and other then spending 3 days at DHS for SWW, it took some time to figure out the rest of our schedule. We find it very difficult to make all our plans 6 months out. We are very leisurely visitors, and other the the 3 day of SWW (where we need lunch plans made). We live with schedules on a daily basis and when we vacation the last thing we want is more schedules. We do have a few dinners planned at TS when the parks will be open late that night. Other then that we will grab something at the CS restaurants.

Thanks for the quick response! Did you find it difficult not being on the 5th floor with the lounge?

We've never stayed at the BC, but we're booked in a Deluxe room for 8 nights so I can add a little to what DisneyMomx7 posted:

The Deluxe BC rooms are 500 sq. ft. Vs. 380 sq. ft. for all other non-suite BC rooms.

Here is a link to a BC Deluxe room review:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32509968

I had asked Jenjersnap who stayed in a Deluxe room if they found not being on the 5th floor inconvenient, and this was her response:

We were fine not being on the 5th floor, but know it is a long walk. We aren't big users of amenities anyway - we'd visit for breakfast and then try to grab a liqueur and cookie at the last service (which we were mostly unsuccessful at because we arrived near the end every time).

Have you had the opportunity to check out this thread? There is a wealth of information about all levels of service at the Polynesian as well as links to reviews of CL. It is a very friendly thread and we are always happy to answer any questions about our favorite resort.

Thanks! I'm reading the thread right now.

We've stayed at the Polynesian a few times, but this is our first time staying CL there. I requested 3rd floor. Are there any rooms we should avoid?
I'm guessing breakfast and snacks are similar to BC CL - how are the evening appetizers?

Anyone have any thoughts on a YC Junior Suite/Deluxe room Vs. a Poly Lagoon View CL room? They are pricing out about the same for us, but the rooms are quite different:

The YC Junior Suite is 645 Sq. Ft., but isn't on the CL floor (they're on the 3rd and 4th floors). It has a Crescent Lake View and full balcony (there are only two of these rooms). The Poly LV room is only 415 Sq. Ft.

We have never had a LV or CL room at the Poly nor a suite at the YC. We're doing a split stay with the first five nights at the CR, so we thought the next 7 nights of the split should be at an Epcot resort, but now I'm not sure since the costs are almost identical and it's so easy to get to the TTC/Epcot from the Poly.

We have had great email responses from the GF about our trip to the Sugarloaf this October. Coming from the U.K its really important that we can communicate this way as its difficult to call all the time :thumbsup2

Third floor is a really good choice and my favorite. I prefer the middle to east end of the floor (farthest from the lounge, but nearest the east exit of Hawaii). The middle building rooms have more unobstructed GV and are equal-distant to the exits. It's just a personal preference though.

Breakfast service is the typical Disney norm--loads of carbs and fruits. The coffee is crap though. Evening service has a variety of offerings each evening and with the exception of our visit last summer (Chef Dick had just departed and the lounge was in flux as a result) are plentiful and tasty. The third floor seating area in the lounge is our favorite, but we no longer have young children.

The Polynesian is our favorite CL and we have been fortunate enough to give all but YC, WL, and Contemp a shot. Sadly for us, our kids are grown and with the exorbitant increase in rates for CL, we find that the cost is prohibitive for the two of us. Still, it was a wonderful 15+ year run of CL stays. . .I don't even want to calculate what we have spent on our yearly (and sometimes twice yearly) visits. :headache: The memories are worth every penny spent.

When we stayed Club Level at the Polynesian in December 2007 we got upgraded from their Garden View - Club Level room to their Lagoon View - Club Level room at check-in. However this was before they added thier Club Level - Theme Park View, because the room we got also had a clear view of Cinderella's Castle and today it would considered a Theme Park View room. I also remember we stayed on the 3rd floor of the Hawaii Longhouse in room #3510, so when we walked to the lounge we went through the sitting area on the 3rd floor and took the stairs down to the main area on the 2nd floor.
