Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

Thanks Padawans! Glad to know you had a nice time at Poly. I'm a bit worried about the construction at WL and looking around for another CL to stay at. We also don't know how it will work out at WL with only boat access to MK (we don't take the buses).

Question: is the lounge attached to the guest rooms? Meaning, if you are staying on the 3rd floor, can you enter the lounge that way? Or do you have to go downstairs and enter through the 1st floor?

We just got back from Poly Cl and loved it. We also stayed at Yc club level and it was good, but we liked the poly better. The view from the lounge is beautiful. The location is great your right next to the pool. The lounge is open 24 hours which is nice. The offerings were very good. The breakfast was ok, but of the 3 club lounges we stayed at they were all about the same. We are not a cereal or danish people so the Cl breakfast didn't excite any of us. The Poly punch is great. It tastes like a Mai tai. The appetizers were very very good. The oatmeal cookies in the afternoon were to die for. Beer and wine selections good. Cm's were friendly, but not overbearing like at Yc. I prefer to be left alone so the Poly suited me better. The Poly has a much more relaxed feel to it. I could joke around with the cm's at Poly. The cm's at Yc were very nice, but in a uptight kind of way. Stuffy is how I would describe it.

Are you talking about constructin at GF?

The lounge is on the second floor. There are stairs or an elevator you can take from the third floor.

I have some questions regarding the Club Level in both the Main Building and the Outer Building at th GF.

1. How is access checked? Does each person, including kids, need to have their card shown/swiped?
2. Is there a specific minuimum age that children must be to go in by/with themselves?
3. Are the food and drink choices the same in both clubs?

Like Calismic said, you will need your KTTW card to access the SL building as well as the elevators in the main building to access the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. The offerings are the same in both CLs. I thought SL was ok, but wouldn't spend the extra money for it again. The lounge is located right in the lobby of the SL building and was always busy and chaotic with not enough seating, IMO. It is convenient, however, to the courtyard pool and is great for grabbing snacks or drinks throughout the day if you spend alot time at the pool. Also as Calismic mentioned, I have never seen anything as far as a minimum age of children to enter the lounges.

Is there fresh fruit available all day in the lounge??? I know my girls would prefer fruit at dessert time over brownies and such...they are weird :upsidedow

We will be at WL CL if that makes a difference.

WDWKOOK already answered your question, but I just wanted to say you will LOVE CL at the WL :goodvibes. It's a different "lounge" from other CLs with the way the seating is arranged, but I love it as it's unique and you have a great view of the beautiful lobby from above :cloud9:.

I really like AKL CL (it's tied for 1st in my family with GF RPC which is considerably more expensive).

That's how I feel about WL CL...I love that as much as GF RPC .

Glad you loved your stay at Poly CL. I have been wanting to try CL there, but have read many negative reviews. With that said, we are staying Poly again next June after our cruise and I think I've decided to just bite the bullet and give CL a try as we won't know if we like it until we try it for ourselves. Thanks for your review....it gives me hope for a nice CL stay :).

BC CL is very nice, but IMO the lounge itself, the food, and definitely the coffee are all better at AKL. :cloud9:

We're doing a YC CL/AKL CL split on our upcoming trip -- so we like them both. Just the AKL lounge overlooking the lobby, with the high ceilings and more seating is really nice. I'm guessing that the lounges at the BC/YC were more of an afterthought, while the one at AKL was built to be a CL lounge.

Yes, the CL lounge at BC is rather small, but the staff were great, and I liked that the rooms were on the same floor. So it was easy to nip into the lounge to grab a drink or snack on the way to your room.

I'm really looking forward to the AKL CL, it looks amazing, and good coffee - afternoon tea! :goodvibes Booked Sunrise Safari this morning!

Enjoy your YC stay! I'm going to have to go over to say hi to Teena!

We made all lunch ADRs so this time I can really enjoy the evening appies! At BC I only had a very small taste, knowing I'd be going to dinner right after. No DDP this time!

Thinking of doing BW CL in Nov. Is it worth an extra $800 to stay CL there?

DH and I will be at YC-Club Level 9/21-9/24/12 and CR-Club Level 9/24-9/28/12. What is the availability of bottled water in the club lounges at these resorts? I'm a water-snob:rotfl: and I'm not fond of tap water. Will I have plenty of bottled water for use in the resort and parks or should I have some delivered? TIA

It's Evian, in glass bottles. You can't take it to the parks, pool, but they will give you some to keep in your room fridge if you ask.

Hi all!

We just switched our Beach Club Garden view room reservation to a stay at AKL - club level! The difference in price was very little. We were excited to try out a new resort (BC) but worried about the lack of counter service options. So when I priced out the summer sale, we decided to go back to our favorite resort! We stayed club level at AKL last summer and loved it so much. The convenience of the lounge was huge for us.

So in about 60 days, we'll be saying hello to the giraffes!

Kathy

Thank you Cinderumbrella. Will I be able to get as much as I want, or will there be a limit on how much I can take to my room or put in my own bottles for the parks?

WL CL is the one place we haven't stayed at that my family really wants to try someday. I think we may wait until we can go when the decorations are up... or maybe we'll try it next time. I love the WL lobby. :)

We stayed Poly CL after our DCL cruise and it was a nice fit for us. It's not perfect, but it's just so conveniently located within the resort. And the CMs were very nice there.

The lounge actually has 2 floors -- most of it is on the 2nd floor, but there's a seating loft on the 3rd. You can enter it from the 3rd floor and go down the stairs to the food and drinks on the 2nd. Or take the elevator to the 2nd floor and enter from there. It's really convenient -- we stayed at almost the end of the hallway on the 3rd floor and it really was still easy to get to the lounge.

Good for you for getting the Sunrise Safari -- we do that every time we stay at AKL! :goodvibes As for distances, our room at the BC was at the very end of the hall, so really I think we were closer to the lounge at AKL. :rotfl:

We have never been told that we couldn't have a bottle, but we only ask for one a day for the room. I just use Garden Grocer and order bottles for the parks.:confused3

milmore104-if you have the means to stay BWI Club Level go for it!:thumbsup2 We stay there annually and have gotten to know the staff very well. They will make your stay memorable. The value to us is worth it as well. Can't wait to be back in August and October:cool1:

I think WL CL is awesome ::yes::. I am contemplating changing our New Years trip from CR TPV to WL CL since the decorations will still be up and looking down into the lobby from the CL lounge is so relaxing :goodvibes.

I have been wanting to try Poly CL as we love the Poly and I have heard so much about that awesome lounge view :cloud9:. But another reason is we love being close to the volcano pool so booking CL would put us right there :thumbsup2. During our Poly stay the CMs were great and we were always greeted with an "Aloha" where ever we went. We had an amazing stay at the Poly and can't wait to return :wizard:.

Congrats. This is good to hear, we will be staying at AKL CL in Aug, our first CL stay there, and glad to hear good things about it. We stayed at BC last Aug and had a great time there. GV room, CL.

I know Poly is your favorite resort so I am sure you will love the Club level. It's possible the bad reviews came from people that didn't really enjoy the Poly to begin with. We are all so different in what we like. I have stayed in all the deluxe resorts except CR and GF. There were only three that we liked. BC/YC, BW and of course Poly. I guess I'm super fussy. I do love the "Aloha" greeting. After Poly we moved to Yc. My kids said "Aloha" to the coincerges at YC everytime we got off the elevator. I think the concierges secretely enjoyed it. How can you not. ;)

We have not stayed AKL CL, but I have heard nothing but great things about it. I'm sure you will have a great stay :goodvibes.

On one hand I hate to spend the extra money and not enjoy it, but on the other hand, I won't know if it's for us unless we try it for ourselves. I agree about the bad reviews......plus some people go into it with such high expectations and when those expectations aren't met, it's hard for them to see the good things about their stay. I almost cancelled our first Poly stay due to negative reviews of the resort overall, but stuck with it and we ended up loving it....so I think it's time to suck it up and give CL a try ;). How cute about your kids saying "Aloha" to the YC CMs. I always loved that when walking into the Poly lobby or anywhere else we ran into a CM :goodvibes.

Hello friends,

A few questions about changing a CL reservation. Right now we have a week of CL booked at the WL at the end of July. Since our children are boy/girl with a four year age difference, we (and they) prefer that they not share a bed. AKL and WL are the only resorts with bunk beds, and AKL CL was not available, so we happily booked WL. I then came to the DIS to do a little research and found that WL CL will be undergoing renovations during the end of July. Inventory will be reduced by half (meaning that there may be a lesser chance of getting the bunks), and the Old Faithful Club may or may not be relocated.

I am trying not to fret, remembering that we always have a good time... but I am fretting. Considering trying to change to the Grand Floridian CL as if I recall, all rooms have a daybed which would solve the issue of sleeping arrangements. It is only $600 more for the outer building CL, and we have not stayed there before. Thoughts?

If I move from one CL accomodation to another, do I call the main booking line, or do it through the IPO? Will all of my reservations transfer with me?

Thanks,
Adrianna

I don't really have thoughts but I do know you can request a rollaway or I know Poly and CR have the daybeds which worked great on our last stay at CR.

We switched last minute on our last trip from BC CL to CR Atrium Club. I had to call the name number but all the reservations stay the same, ADRs and resort reservations are not tied together except by your email and canceling one does not impact the other. Good luck, making change decisions is hard.

I understand your uncertainty as deciding whether or not to make a resort change is hard. WL CL is awesome and I think you would love it (and I would recommend it to anybody ;)), but if not getting bunk beds would be an issue, it might be best to change resorts, IMO. With that said, most rooms at the GF have a daybed, but there are some that do not. Our last GF stay was in December 2010 (regular GV not CL) and we were assigned a dormer room that did not have a daybed. We have 2 teens that don't like sharing a bed and they were able to accommodate us by giving us another room, but there is a chance you won't get a daybed at the GF. For our SL stay, we were assigned a turret room that had a small sitting area with a couch, but it was a regular couch and not a pull out, so no daybed/extra bed. As the pp said, all rooms at the Poly and CR come with daybeds so if either one of those resorts are an option, you would be guaranteed a daybed there.

For making a resort change, you would call the regular reservation number and will be contacted by that resort's IPO (if you stick with CL), with your confirmation number staying the same and any deposit/money paid toward the original reservation will transfer to the modified one. HTH :).

Hello!! We are staying at the BWI, CL in August and can't wait. Does anyone know if BWI has rollaways available? We have 4 kids and all 4 can share 2 double/queen size beds if they need to, but my oldest 2 would really prefer not to. Curious to know if they would allow one roll away for her? Thanks!!

The green sofa in the CL rooms also function as a daybed, so each room sleeps 5.
