Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

I have a question- we are staying at the Poly CL for one night in August for my and my husband's 12th anniversary :cloud9: We have an ADR for dinner at 'Ohana at 8:30...would the IPO have any luck getting us in any earlier? I can't find any ADRs earlier online, and I was hoping to catch Wishes at 9:00 in the lounge since we most likely won't be seated by a window.

It sure seems like the club levels are becoming more and more mainstream and every year it seams like their very similar from one club to another club located in the same area. BWI sure sounds a lot like the BC Club level offerings.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of those evening offerings have been standard at the YC for at least 3 -4 years. We are back there in 20 days & I had hoped there might be something new. Guess not. :sad2:

I agree. Hopefully the lounges in each resort can retain something special so that they each have their own specialties that make them unique.

To me, the ones at AKL and the Poly are the most unique ones I have tried.

I remember when the YC had things from Yachtsman's or Cape May. Actually the very first time we stayed on "Concierge", as it used to be called, they had the most amazing, delicious breadsticks. They were thin & crispy; wrapped with bacon! & had some cheese sprinkled on them. That was probably 8 -10 years ago & I still dream about them!!! :lmao: I think those breadsticks are what hooked us on Club level. Even tho they have never had them again, we still keep going back, hoping for something equally amazing. :rotfl2:

I know we always get a survey after our vacation. I would suggest everyone start commenting (complaining) about the stale & generic club level offerings. And request new & unique offerings. It worked for the resort specific merchandise, maybe we can get some better food in the Club lounges.

This is a great idea. :thumbsup2

I recognized quite a lot of those offerings from both BC and the Poly. A lot of frozen heat and eat type stuff like the Conch Fritters, Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon and Brie/Raspberry Puffs. It's decent I guess, but nothing special. :confused3

My upcoming trip is focused on trying out different CLs that we haven't experienced yet and I am going to be dissapointed if it's mostly the same stuff every place.

So, if you're using your DVC you can stay club level? I always assumed you couldn't because I thought the DVC rooms were in a separate building.

Kidani is all DVC and Jambo has 2 floors of DVC. The 5th floor has regular DVC rooms. The 6th floor at Jambo has a handful of CL DVC rooms (the only DVC CL rooms at AKL) and is also the floor with the lounge (other CL rooms are on the 4th floor).

I would certainly contact them. They are in the system all day everyday so I would imagine your chances would increase for a earier reservation. It is far enough out that I think you should be able to get an earlier dinner. The view for Wishes is super from the CL lounge. Much better than 'Ohana's IMOP, plus you can really hear the music. At 'Ohana's they do pipe in the music, but there is still the noise of guests dinning.

Try and sample their evening appitizers too if possible. Their evening offerings and the dessert offerings later in the evening are wonderful. "Ohana's is a big meal is there a possibility you can have it another night?

Someone asked about Poly GV rooms a few pages back. We stayed in one last May on our first visit to the Poly and first club level experience. We were on the third floor about halfway down the hall and overlooked the quiet pool. Both my mom and myself thought the room was fine and had no issues with the view.

My kids would love to go back and stay at Poly again but this next trip we are trying some different resorts. We are planning for the Beach Club/ Wilderness Lodge split stay. But after reading that there are no full balconies on the Beach Club CL rooms we might move to Yacht Club. They really want to go to SAB so a stay at one of the two is in the plans.

Not sure what view you have booked, but we stayed in a SV CL room at BC in September and had a full balcony.

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately, the entire week we are there the only dinner ADR I can get for 'Ohana is 9:40  I'll contact IPO and see if they can work a little Disney magic, and if not, I'll just keep trying since I have a few months.

Do all CL rooms at the Poly have balconies?

No. The rooms on the first floor have patios. The rooms on the 3rd floor have balconies. And the ones on the 2nd have sliding glass doors, but just a railing instead of a balcony.

Its not that the BC CL DOESN'T have full balconies, its just that they are not guaranteed. Some definitely have the standing balconies, but I am not sure the exact number. We had a full balcony with ours in Nov (Standard View)

The YC CL rooms do have full balconies in each room.

Question.......We have reservations for Poly CL GVR. I would love to request the 3rd floor. When do I do this? At check in? Thanks all!! :yay:

I made my room requests for Poly 3rd floor to the IPO office when I was having them make my dining reservations for me. That way they already know what you prefer before you even check in! I hope you get what you want! :goodvibes

Whenever we stay we always make our requests well before we arrive, then we can verify when we arrive.

We stayed in a GV CL room and had a full balcony...I believe it was said on the BC/YC dis thread that all GV CL rooms (only 9 of them) are full balcony, so if you are stuck on a full balcony try the GV room!

A BC/WL split sounds wonderful! :cloud9:

We had a LV CL room at the BC last time and it did have a full balcony. I think it's just not guaranteed. YC CL has one in all the rooms as far as I know, so we stay there when it really matters to us. IMO they are both -- you can't go wrong with either one (esp since they share the same great pool and location). :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replys about BC. We are a family of 5 so would like to stay in a deluxe room for the extra space. We don't like to stay on 1st floor so it looks like there may only be 2 available that have full balconies.

There aren't many deluxe rooms. We stayed in one on our last trip. It was really really nice having the extra space! Our deluxe room did not have a full balcony - it had a standing balcony. The room was on the corner & had a great view of the lake & of the quiet pool. LOTS of windows. I can't remember what floor we were on now. It was a LOOONNNGGGGG walk to the elevators to go up to the lounge - but we made kind of a joke out of it and had fun.
