Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

I have another question for you experts. In making ADR's for my trip I noticed that the Club Level CM's can do this for you. I was not able to secure a reservation at California Grill for the time I want, would the CM's be able to squeeze us in? How does this work?
The Club Level Cast Members at the Contemporary would have an easier time getting you an ADR because the California Grill is located at the Contemporary and that's a common thing the Club Level Cast Members can do at the other restaurants, but only for it's own restaurants at their own resort. For example when they log onto their ADR system it see's they are doing it from a Club Level computer at their resort and if that doesn't work they can call the restaurant directly and work something out. However they can usually do this but there might be the odd time when they still might not be able to get you can, so it's not 100% that it will work.

I'm surprised someone would actually put that in writing. :confused3 Nice of them to do you that favor though!! ;)

I do know that some IPO's are much more helpful than others and that even within the best of IPO's, some CMs are more helpful than others.

I definitely understand your confusion as to the mixed messages you received.

Since the Standard Club Level Rooms at the Boardwalk would come with a Garden View I was wondering are you able to see parts of Illuminations from any of them? If not then it's not a big deal because I know that I can always see them from the balcony in the Innkeeper's Club lounge.

Coopersmom -- I can't believe they would say that! I can see them saying they wont check every day for 180 days, but they should be willing to check on anything if you ask them to, up until you check in. If it were me, I'd call them and speak to an IPO CM over the phone and ask them to make the rest of your ADRs...

I agree with RachelTori -- there are stellar CMs that work in IPO, most are wonderful, but I've noticed a few (very few) that probably need some work in the customer-service department.;)

When I called to make a few ADR's for our July trip a Tusker House breakfast was not available. I was told over the phone that I could keep checking online myself. I know in the past IPO would keep checking for you.

Some standard CL rooms at BWI are BW view but most are garden view. I was able to see Illuminations from our garden view room. I think you would be able to see it from most if not all garden view rooms. We could even hear the music from our balcony. We were closer to the elevator than the lounge I would think you could hear/see even better if you were in a room past the lounge.

Like I have been doing every day since getting back from WDW I just checked the Fall/Winter Room Only promotion, Annual Pass rates and the rack rate just to be sure and saw that our Standard Club Level Room that we got at the Boardwalk on the Bounceback rate is now sold for our dates this December which is from the 9 - 23, so I guess we should be lucky getting that when we did. The only rooms they have available is their is the Standard View and Water View, although since all their Club Level room categories are sold out I wonder if it's a matter of time until those room categories sell out.

Yeah, it was an email. While I don't want to share a name (obviously) or anything close to the full text, the first two sentences were: "We really are not supposed to keep checking for requests inside 180 days. However, we will go ahead and keep checking for you."

The previous conversation we'd had about not making my own reservations/changes anymore because it spoils their itinerary, which I was told they have to put together by hand (which seems odd), and causes other problems, was via phone.

Again, I want to stress that in all of my interactions with IPO they have been absolutely nothing but kind and polite. I was just a little surprised to see that response given our previous conversation.

Wow, this has not been our experience at all. We had a few reservations that IPO could not originally get (at least for the time we wanted) and they basically said, 'leave it in our hands and we'll keep checking and see if something opens up.' Then every so often I get an update letting me know how they're making out.
For our last trip (also at GF) the CM's in RPC were terrific and got us a couple of last minute reservations that were not available on line (I checked). I watched and they did it over the phone - seemed to be with the restaurant directly and they were not all at the GF. So, if you don't get what you want before arriving make friends with a CM and ask nicely!
good luck!:)

A lot of the garden view rooms also can see illuminations, nothing beats sitting on your own balcony with that fantastic view each evening :goodvibes

I've had both boardwalk and garden view rooms and both are special in their own individual way :)

That is really odd as i just checked dates from checking in on the 17th of Dec & checking out Dec 23rd & they have standard View,Water View,Standard Room CL & Garden suites available under the Fall/Winter Room Only,Unless of course some folk have cancelled allowing these particular rooms to be become available within the inventory:) Interesting though seeing as the availability wasnt there yesterday for u,I just checked the 9th to the 23rd & Standard room CL is showing availabilty also under the Fall/Winter room only so i guess u can just never tell when certain rooms will become available.

Last trip, I had a deluxe room booked , which I let my daughter and family have, and I took the standard club room across the hall from them. I was disappointed at first not to have the boardwalk view which I love, BUT the garden view was nice, and we LOVED seeing the upper fireworks of Illuminations while on our own balcony at night. Great view, and we were 2 rooms past the lounge. The taller buildings of EPCOT lit up at night also make a pretty sight from the balcony.

I know you'll like whichever view you have.

I am just happy we are able to stay Club Level there again and that's what most important, because nothing else changes in the lounge and we still see the same great Cast Members. I said this before if we are able to switch over to the Deluxe Room then great, if not then it's not an issue.

I just checked our dates right now and also saw that their Standard Club Level Room is once again available under that promotion, so either someone cancelled or they added more those rooms onto the promotion.

I'm not sure how they know or if it is because they ask for a specific room but let me tell you my horror story. We stayed at BC and had a great ground floor room just 'off' of the quiet pool area (so we could walk over there or over to the walk to Epcot or to Stormalong Bay from our glass door) that was a bit bigger than the other rooms there (or at least, the other rooms our family were in). So the morning we were going to check out, we asked for a late check out (no problem) but we were woken by housekeeping at 8 am! And told them we had a late check out. Then not 10 minutes later, engineering knocked on the door! Let's just say we weren't sleeping in at that point! So I got in the shower and when I got out, someone was ENTERING our room. It was some guy and his kid/grandkid asking us WHEN WE WERE CHECKING OUT. OMG! I was not dressed and my family was in bed. I told him we had a late check out and weren't sure. I complained PROFUSELY to the front desk who apologized but said they couldn't help it if someone tried every door with their card key. WHAT???? I asked to speak to a manager and was DENIED! So...I think this person knew which room he was going to be in (whether he asked for it or asked which room it would be) and he entered with his key to the world card because they issue those before the room is ready. I just can't believe the nerve of this person to enter a room that was occupied and the lack of concern by BC over this. And my vacation was over with so what did they care?

That's my horror story - just make sure you have that extra chain lock on your door.

I believe you...but that is unbelievable.

Will be at the BW in just 20 more hours!!!!

Have a wonderful trip!
