Here's the IPO response (just couldn't wait for the thread, so I emailed ...I'm so impatient!! ;)):

You can continue to call back to see if the other party can get a club level room if they are interested because there are often cancellations, even from different times of the day.

If they are not able to get a club level room they can use the lounge, but must be accompanied by someone in your room.

Glad you got your answer! I trust what the IPO says much more than the CMs at CRO!:thumbsup2

I'M STAYING CLUB LEVEL AT THE BEACH CLUB. WHEN I ARRIVE AT THE RESORT WERE DO I CHECK IN? ARE YOU USHERED UPSTAIRS FOR CHECK-IN OR IS IT AT THE REGULAR SPOT DOWNSTAIRS....... IF ANYONE KNOWS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS:):flower3:

At Yacht Club (sister resort to Beach Club) we were met in the lobby and escorted upstairs for check in.

thanks Robin, we are coming in with a large group, some staying club the others are not....... trying to keep it all straight:wizard:

Okay I might get flamed but I have to ask.

How in the world are they allowing guests that do not pay for club level, club level access?

My in-laws are thinking of joining us for one week this summer. We are staying in a deluxe club level room. It never dawned on me to tell them just to pay for a standard room and they can use the lounge with us!

Aren't the club lounges crowded enough?

good question! What's the point of staying club level otherwise? I've heard beach club lounge can get very crowded. Seems it's a little unfair for it to be more crowded by folks who aren't even staying there.

no flaming here, ITA> I pay big bucks to stay CL. I think if you ask the CM sitting in the lounge/at the desk they will tell you no. otherwise, like you said, one part of the party could just book a regular room. The IPO people, while very sweet, arent the ones who have to dealw ith the angry guests who don't have a palce to sit b/c somsone who didn't pay is using the lounge.

What a minute are you saying people who are not staying at club level can go to the CL? I'm paying extra money to stay there I shouldn't have to share with people not paying for it, that's just WRONG!
AM I under standing this correctly? :confused3

it's another one of those things that "depends on who you ask" The lounge is supposed to be for CLUB LEVEL GUESTS, but some people, and CM's as well, like to bend the rules.

DisneymomX7, I'm Donnaduck333. I wrote that I'm checking in with a large party at the Beach Club. Some are staying CL. Some meaning my family. The other is my son's best friend's family who are not staying CL and will not be using my privileges. I hope there wasn't a misunderstanding. I don't think I ever implied that we were going to abuse the CL privileges. Just wanted to make that clear in case someone read my post wrong. I just didn't want to show up at check-in and use the downstairs check-in if the upstairs was meant for CL. I'm doing a lot of nice things before we enter the room and would rather deal with concierge staff to make sure my requests were met.:thumbsup2

I don't think those comments were about your post. Upthread from you was a comment by PolyndianPrincessJes that she tried to book 2 CL rooms and couldn't. She emailed the IPO and they told her that if the people staying the non-CL room were accompanied by someone staying in the CL room, the non-CL room people could go to the CL lounge.

I've seen CRResortFan post that he'd been told the same thing by the cast members at the CR CL lounges.

Which has those paying for CL a little up in arms about people getting a service they're not paying for. In PolyndianPrincessJes' case, she said she'd book the other CL room if it was available, so we should probably try not to shoot the messenger :goodvibes

Me, too!! That's why I asked here at the DIS...in the three years I've been here, I've always got the correct answer from a DISer.

Guilty!! I thought it was strange, as well.

Just a little background...

We had two TPVCL rooms booked, but somehow the first CM who booked us got our dates wrong (August 1-8 instead of December). After having a small heart attack when I saw my confirmations, I called CRO, and there was only one room available at club level. Out of irritation (no fault of the CM I was speaking with and probably an honest mistake of the original booking CM), I mentioned I was bummed that half of our party wouldn't be able to join us for snacks, etc. She volunteered the info. IPO confirmed the lounge info, but said they would not be able to book the Wildlife Excursion, which I have no interest in, but my grampa would take DS if he wanted to go. I suppose I will switch myself out of the CL room if they decide they want to do that.

Soooo...yes, don't shoot the sad messenger who had to split up her family because of a booking mistake. :flower3:

THANKS FOR CLEARING THAT UP FOR ME, F15ROBYN i GOT A LITTLE NERVOUS HONESTLY, DIDN'T WANT TO STARTA NEGATIVE DEBATE OVER A POSSIBLE MISCOMMUNICATION. PHEEEEEEEEW.:goodvibes

Thanks!! I'm taking three newbies, my cousin and one of my best friends (whose husband just left her for his five months pregnant girlfriend :eek:) and her DD19m, so I may just stick my mom and grandparents in the CL room since we'll be at the parks and doing a lot of character meals most of the time. We may not make too much use of the lounge as it is. We'll see...hopefully something opens up between now and then, though, as I was really hoping we'd all be somewhat near each other.

Good luck -- I would keep checking online every day -- rooms open up all the time! I do think it's tough when you're not even in the same building as your family...

We at staying @ YC CL in 7 weeks :cool1: all our ADR are made is there anything I should be asking or doing with the conceirges now? Should I ask for a room never the stairs or elevators? What should I be asking for? we have a garden view room do you think they may (by total luck) put us in a water view room if I asked? Any suggestions would be helpful. This is our first CL trip. TIA

We almost considered just staying at two different resorts (gparents want to try WL), but there weren't any CL rooms there, either!! We'll make the best of it either way, but it sure would be nice the be together.

We love the BC (the kiddos could do SAB the entire trip if we let them!!), in fact we were there in October, but the Poly is my home!! We'll just keep checking. :goodvibes

If you want to be near the lounge and the elevators, you can give your request to the IPO office. The hallways at the YC are long, so if it's important to you, be sure to request it. I don't think that they will upgrade you to a water view room if you ask -- if you really want that view I suggest that you book it. You never know what might happen, but it's been reported here again and again that upgrades do not happen because people have asked for them. Hope you have a great trip!
