DonaldDoleWhip, thanks so much for those BC lounge pictures! We'll be staying there for the first time next month, and I don't think I'd seen any pics of the newly renovated lounge. :thumbsup2

We are staying BWI CL. I emailed IPO to have them make an ADR. They confirmed that they did but they didn't give me a confirmation number. Should they have? This is my first time staying CL so I am not sure what is normal. Thanks!

Usually whenever I've requested ADRs they will send me through my itinerary showing all my ADRs/tours/etc with confirmation numbers - did they send you a copy of the itinerary sheet?

However, I wouldn't worry though if they've confirmed they've made your ADR, as it means they've found you on the system so all is OK.

There's a few Dis'ers at the BWI at that time too :goodvibes

Do they show the cartoons for the kids in the lounge?

Both times we stayed at AKL, the Disney Channel was playing on the TV. I think it was cartoons in the morning for breakfast, but later in the day it was things like Hannah Montana and Zack and Cody. Hope this helps. :)

wow you would think the lounge would have a better view!

I've thought the same thing. Both the lounge at the YC and the one at the BC are on the "standard view" side of the building, not the lagoon side.

has anyone stayed CL w/food allergies... specifically peanut/tree nut... will they provide safe food?

has anyone stayed CL w/food allergies... specifically peanut/tree nut... will they provide safe food?

We stayed at Poly and AKL CL over the summer. My daughter has peanut/tree nut allergies which I wrote to IPO about and mentioned when we arrived. Nothing "special" was provided specifically for her. When I wrote to IPO their response was basically "let them know when you arrive." Even after I mentioned it, no one took the time to let her know what she needed to avoid.

Restaurants, however, were wonderful. Chefs came to the table (especially at the buffets where they escorted my daughter through the buffet line to let her know what she needed to avoid). So be sure to have it marked on your dinner reservations.

At Kona the chef offered to make the meal she wanted separately so there was no danger of cross contamination. They were awesome!

We'll be staying CL for the first time next month, and my sister has peanut, tree nut and soy allergies. Thanks for the info, PRaffen. Not happy to hear about the lackluster response, but glad to know what to expect.

I emailed IPO about my sister's allergies and also mentioned that we'll be staying CL when I emailed the Special Diets team (specialdiets@disneyworld.com) about our ADRs. I don't know if mentioning it to them will help, but I figured it was worth a shot.

hmmm... if we cannot get some safe offerings for ds, i might reconsider staying CL and go w/the deluxe dining plan instead... esp since i already know how great the ts restaurants are at keeping him safe and well fed!

thanks for sharing your experience :)
maybe i will email IPO before i commit...

Hi, I'm a celiac, in my CL stays I've had no issues with getting gluten free muffins for breakfast (I request this via the IPO and also Disney Special Dining), however, I've never had anything specifically gluten free in the evening offerings but have 'made do' with the cheese, crudites, etc, not the hot items that look a bit iffy, i.e. only very plain foods that I know are safe.

PRaffen, or anyone else who is familiar with nut allergies and CL offerings, do you know if the cereal was safe? I know my sister needs to avoid cereal in those large plastic clear containers (where other cereals may have been in the same compartment previously) - are the cereals in these big containers?

If so, I'm thinking of emailing IPO to ask if they could provide a box of Cheerios.

Yes, the cereal is in the large clear containers. At least it has been at every WDW resort we've stayed at. However, since they usually have Cheerios, I would guess that they would be able to give you some.

If they can make an accommodation easily, they will. But CL is not like a full service restaurant and I doubt that they would alter their general offerings for people. It would just get very complicated for them, I think.

If you really have food issues, I'd be careful about relying on what is in the lounge. IMO the CMs and their follow-through with any kind of special requests can be really hit-or-miss...

I understand that you're not being "difficult", that this is a health issue. I'd just be careful about relying on the lounge CMs for that. It's my understanding that the restaurants are trained to accommodate dietary issues, I don't feel like the lounge staff is.

For example: Poly sushi night -- they had seafood and vegetarian sushi prepared. They would alternate what was out. For us and the other people who could only eat the vegetarian sushi -- they just expected us to wait for the seafood to be gone before they would put out the v. one. No understanding that they could just give us some from the back...:confused3

There are some things that we want (like plain yogurt) that we can't get in any lounge we've been to -- so we end up using a grocery service to get them. Yes I can ask and ask, but will they actually do it?:confused3

I just don't want you to book CL and find out that it doesn't meet your needs. Hope this helps!

Quick question - with the summer extended discounts we just switched from a BC standard room with deluxe dining to a room only BC Deluxe CL room (our favorite!). I already made my ADRs at the 180 day mark. Now that I have a different confirmation number will I still be able to keep all the ADRs?

Thanks!

Yes! Just tell the IPO you have the ADRs and they can pull them up and create the itinerary for you! :goodvibes

Perfect, thanks. We'll ask if they have any Cheerios in their own box, and if not, we'll just buy her a box from the store. And we don't have any great expectations for the regular offerings for my sister - she'll probably just stick to fruits and vegetables that we know are safe. :goodvibes

Just received the paperwork from Poly IPO so now I can start filling out my ADR's and tour requests etc. On the last page it asks for any 'other requests'...what type of requests should I think about adding in here? Can I make a request for a room here? Any other thoughts :confused3

Yep--that's what they did for us. WE changed from room only to a package and our reservation # changed, but they found all of our ADRs and sent us a copy.

I don't know about a room request. I guess it couldn't hurt. I used it to request a Wishes cruise and help with ordering a birthday cake, etc. Anything you want their help with!

I did it!! Upgraded us to WL CL!! I can't wait!! We really love the convenience of the lounge. DH grabs us a quick breakfast and brings it to the room while I get ready. In the afternoons we'll grab a drink if we're thirsty, and some pretzels. Since we're late dinner eaters, if we're around we sample the appetizers in the lounge. We have yet to be around for the desserts/cordials! I don't know if we will be! We're always out in a park or at a dinner ADR! Boo! This trip we have to make it a point to have dessert ONE night!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Does anyone have photos of the AKL Cl lounge?
this is our first stay there, first at club level....
I was thinking ablut adding the dining plan, will this make the package change reservation numbers?
thanks, any other info is appreciated!

I just emailed the Polynesian IPO this morning and attached the form to the email. In the body of the email I made our room requests. I got a reply from IPO rather quickly, and she said that she did note our room requests and she clarified that they can't be guaranteed, but that they'd try their best. :) So yes, go ahead and make your room requests at the same time as the ADR and tour requests. :)
