i was thinking of booking this for 2 nights and checking out Universal. Whats this resort like? How does its concierge level compare to Disneys?

Thanks everyone

During our stays have only went to concerige once, and it concerned our booking for Luau, but while there i asked about a booking we had at seaworld and needed a phone number, she rang them for me on a separate number ,as she said i might be on a while to get through, and found the procedure i needed to go through and where i needed to be at a certain time.
They where more than helpful and very friendly, might use them a bit more this stay.

I used the concierge a couple of times at RPR - once for an inquiry and again for them to print my boarding passes for me. They were extremely helpful and friendly.

By concierge I think you mean club? Lots of people seem to love it. Personally, I haven't stayed on club level at RPR but club at the other two hotels is very nice.

I have stayed Concierge at RPR, CR-14th floor, and AKL.

RPR has a very large lounge, no view from the window as it overlooks a freeway. The staff are nice and happy to give directions and recomendations. I'm pretty sure they will make reservations, but I didn't need that. (US resturants are much easier to "get into" than WDW). The lounge is large and has 2 tv's (one at each end). You are free to change the channels.

The food selections is pretty similar to WDW's. B/fast, mid-day snacks, hor'derves, desserts. If my memory server's me right, they do have wine and beer at no charge. They also have canned soda's and **bottled water** that you can take to the parks.;)

Since you really don't need the ADR's at US, I didn't inquire about any pre-trip planning.

You also get turn down service and newspaper delivery to your room.

We enjoyed our stay very much.

One more thing, only about 1/3 of the Club rooms have a pool/park view. The rest are "garden" a/k/a highway. So if a really good view is important, you'd have more luck booking a regular room.

Did you just get boarding passes printed, or were they able to do your online check-in.
I'm really stressing about my party of 6 not being online exactly 24 hours in advance of our departing flight. Any suggestions?

THanks Kim thats what i was looking for.
I stayed at all the WDW deluxew club levels and was thinking about trying US out

Yes, they will print out your boarding passes. I got there exactly 24 hours in advance and got it done.

One more thing, the lounge also has a computer w/ internet access and a printer for guest's use.

You can print your bording passes, check email, etc. Whatever you want.

They did the check-in as well. We weren't travelling with Southwest so I wasn't concerned about checking in at the 24-hour mark. I just went down to the desk when I thought about it the day before. If you are travelling with Southwest and your 24-hour mark is at a time when the conceirge desk is open - no problem, otherwise I would be there as soon as they open in the morning. Another option I've saw people suggest when flying with SW is to get someone at home to do the check-in at the 24 hour mark and then just print your boarding passes at the airport.

No need to stress. You can get this done whether you stay club or not. Either go to the hotel lobby concierge or go to Business Services. I've never had a problem checking in before my flight and getting my boarding passes whenever I've stayed at Universal.

OP, sorry, I have answered this question soooo many times. Just google my screenname and RPR Club. I'm sure you'll find many pics and descriptions.

I have stayed at all the Loews Orlando Club levels and I have to say the the RP Club is the most friendly. If you don't see something out that you need they will try to accomodate you. Say you saw something out at breakfast or another night and now it is gone. They will always try to find it for you. Also they saw me looking at the wines one night and ask what I usually liked. There was nothing like it out, so they went in the back and brought some out.

Let me know if you have any more questions. I am sure someone here can find out the answer for you.

I agree with FeeFeeWhite that RPR is the most friendly and helpful Club (although I shouldn't compare it with PBR because it has been about 6 years since I stayed Club with them.) As far as comparing to WDW, I think it depends on which concierge level at WDW you want to compare. I would say RPR Club is most comprable to BC and YC concierge as well as Boardwalk as far as offerings and club atmosphere except for one big, big difference (for us anyway). The difference is that RPR provides unlimited bottles of water at all times in the lounge. In the heat of the summer we usually each grab two bottles of water in our way to the parks for our bags or shoulder straps to stay hydrated and they are all gone by lunchtime! WDW used to offer bottled water but stopped a few years ago. The lounge is also nice and big (not a great view as someone else mentioned) and has two large flat screen TVS at either end of the lounge. DH is often found inthe lounge watching sports ont he sofa, just like at home! I have never stayed at the Grand Floridian but I rank the concierge/club levels as follows (please keep in mind that since we bought DVC, our concierge visits at WDW have been limited and mostly at one resort so some of the lounges may have changed):

Polynesian (Our absolute favorite!)
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Wilderness Lodge
Royal Pacific/Hard Rock ( I rate them about equal)
Portifino Bay Resort
Boarkwalk Inn
Beach Club
Yacht Club

I stayed at Disney AKL Concierge/Club last May and just got back from RPR Club a week ago. After experiencing both, my answer to your comparison question about Universal vs Disney Concierge is this:

For dealing with mix ups or issues regarding your room, package etc., it matters how and who you book your trip through. Using disney travel, the disney concierge can practically handle any request or mix up. At RPR, that is not the case. Our package was booked through Universal vacations and there was nothing the RPR concierge could do because they/Loews did not book it. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get it all fixed, but that is for another thread. :confused3 The RPR concierge is able to secure tickets to all parks and events or meals UNLESS you have included them in your package. Then you must provide them with a printed confirmation of your reservation. When I say a printed confirmation, there is a specific one, and if you did not bring it, then tough, your out of luck and the Concierge is no help. You must go to the quest services at the park entrance. I did have a printed confirmation from Universal Vacations, the ONLY one I ever received, but was told by the Concierge at RPR that is was not the right one....How am I supposed to know this? :rolleyes1 They were nice, but no help what so ever, again fodder for another thread.

As for the amenities of the Club Lounges, AKL location was the bomb. The staff awesome, the food and time offerings was stellar. Some food items may not appeal to younger crowd who have not had a chance to develope their palates, but for a grown up, it was great. The Club Level at RPR is staffed with friendly people. They are very helpful and chatty. One nice touch was to offer a free cd of the music that is playing in the check in area when you arrive. The room is large and has ample tables or seat groupings around televisions on opposite ends. One side usually had local programing, the other side universals movies! You can pick from a vast assortment and they even give you control of the remote! It was not a crowded time, so that might not be the case when it is busier. My DH was able to check emails while I sat with a cocktail, ate yummy snacks and watched the Fantastic 4...They even waited on us, wanted to know about us, and were really good with remembering what we liked. For ambience AKL wins hands down, for food offerings, and people, I'd say it's pretty close except for the actual concierge services.
