We haven't picked a place to stay for our 2004 trip and are just checking them out. Don't know if we'd do this anyway but the one time we did do it we loved it at HRH in Orlando.

I can't beleive no one knows if there is a concierge at DLH and if so, what it's like!! Do they have snacky type foods in the evening? DW are great as is Universal but I know nothing about DL.

Yes they do have conierge at DLH. I haven't been to a conciege at WDW so I can't really compare the 2 but I can tell you some information about the place. As far as I can tell the food offerings are about the same as the WDW resorts. They have breakfast, snacks all day, and then wine and cheese in the evening. At certain times you can view the fireworks from the lounge. The really neat thing about DLH is that they have a glass elevator that runs on the outside of the hotel that goes directly from the ground to the the lounge which is on the 11th floor. Once and awhile you run into some famous people up there, like last year Art Linkletter said high to my 2yr old.

I think it is quite a bit different then because at WDW you stay on the same floor as the lounge. Also, they have lots of nightly stuff, not just wine and cheese. You can actually use it for a night meal! So, to me, unless the cost is al ot less then WDW concierge, it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks!

I didn't do it at DL, so I can only report my research. We considered it at the DLH....I was hoping it would be something like at the Polynesian at WDW where although they didn't call the evening food a meal, it actually would serve as dinner. That, plus the breakfast would have made the price difference well worth the the cost. I was told they were not the same at all. AT WDW, hot items and more substantial foods were served. AT DLH, it was cheese and crackers, I think cookies and milk for children. Of course the sodas and water during the day would have been nice, but we really didn't head back to the room much anyway. For us, the difference was, I think, $114 per day. It just didn't seem to be worth it for our family.

Is there a concierge level at all three towers or is it at just one tower? If it's at one tower, which is it?

We stayed at the Disneyland hotel last year and used the concierge during our stay. It is situated in the Sierra Tower on the 11th floor. We actually stayed in the Marina Tower on the 11th floor, which had a great view of the pool. We only used the concierge for breakfast's every day, we were to exhausted to go there after being in the parks all day. I would reccommend it to anyone going there and the Disneyland hotel was the best. Hope this helps you in some way.

The Sierra Tower is the only one w/concierge service. The lounge faces DTD & you can watch the fireworks w/piped-in music. The CL is large & the neverland pool @ the hotel is great. I don't know about the food selections, I was just in there briefly & had a glass of champagne.
I stayed @ the GC concierge. Their lounge is smaller & the food is limited. The pool are is nice, but fairly plain. I love the GC tho. I hotel is much nicer than the DLH.

Morticia, which one would you choose then, GC or DLH. We will have 3 grandkids ages 16, 12, 5 along with their parents. I just thought the pool at DLH and the size of the rooms would make it a better choice. We have stayed at WL and AKL in DW and I was afraid we'd be disappointed in GC.

I've stayed @ the AKL also. I don't think you will be disappointed in the GC. I saw the inside of the WL & I thought it was similar to the GC.
Either hotel will be good for the kids. DCA is right next to the pool are @ GC. DLH has the neverland pool.
The GC has a lobby like WL & AKL to sit in & enjoy. DLH doesn't.
But all the other activities & places @ either hotel are accessable to anyone.
IMO I think the GC is a far supeior hotel & concierge service. Even the small things like check-in.
We stayed @ the GC for one night, non concierge last month. See next post.
There is a lot to do @ both hotels. Waterfalls, light shows, wine cellars, Goofy's kitchen, storytelling.....
I could go on & on & you haven't even left the hotel yet. You do need to see the bar next to the lobby in the GC. It is made of one redwood tree. Amazing! And the food & drinks are good also.:smooth:
BTW, it is a bar as in room, not furniture.

One night, 3 day trip report

My sister & her family were out here visiting last week & spent 3 nights @ the GC. My DH & I joined them & spent Wed. night @ the GC also.
We all met @ 3pm on Wed. in the lobby. For those of you who have not been to this hotel, I would equate it w/a deluxe @ WDW. I love this hotel!!! It is so beautiful & my sister & her family loved it also.
I had requested a picture on Buzz upon making the resies & @ check-in I requested it again. Both times I was told, maybe.
We went up to our rooms which were over WOD on the corner.
My sister had a bunkbed that slept 3 for the kids in their room.
Our bellman was great! He ran over to the DL hotel & got a Buzz pic & other things for my nephew, 3 & pics for the other 2 kids. He also brought balloons for my niece's bd.
We spent the day @ the pool & went to Hook's Pointe for dinner.
In our room, we had turndown service, which we didnt have to request & full amenities in the bath.
My nephew, 10 got a kick out of that.
We sat on their balcony, people watched & talked. My sis, niece & I went walking around WOD.
I could hear the music from grad night all night long in my room. I kept my DH up all night & we didn't sleep much. Also, the fire alarm glows in the dark.
In the morning the paper was delivered outside our door.
We spent the day @ DL & ran over to DCA to ride SOC. DCA closed @ 6 & DL @ 8 b/c of grad night.
We had breakfast @ the Carnation Cafe & Oscar, the oldest DL empolyee, since 1956, came by to say hi.
The junior MM waffles are too small for a 10yo boy, get the adult size.
We ate lunch @ the BB. They have changed their menu slightly & the portions are smaller. I had the jambalaya & it was different.
The crowds weren't too bad & some rides we were able to get on in 10 min.
The Pooh ride seems to break down alot. This is the 2nd time this month it has gone down while I was there.
Tip: go to the stand by line after it is back up & running & you will get right on. All the backed up FP people will be waiting in a long line.
@ 7:50, we finished SW, ran to PP, pinocchio, back to SW all b4 8:10.
We headed out to DTD, ate @ Wetzle's & said out goodnight's to my sis & headed home.
They stayed 2 more nights. We drove back Fri. @ 3 & met them @ the Uva bar, had lunch. They had a character breakfast @ PCH, saw Minnie, Pluto & Max. They spent the rest of day swimming.
They ate Wetzle's & DH had ribs & I had this awesome salad w/fresh Ahi tuna!!!
We hung around DTD, played @ Lego, my niece got a hair wrap & DN 3 & I went back to hotel & sat in the fireside lounge & relaxed.
Actually, he ate a sucker & played, I relaxed.
Everyone joined us @ 5:30 for the storytelling. Glynnis is awesome! We all had a blast.
They changed & we went to see Finding Nemo @ 7:15.
Went back to their room & watched the DL fireworks from their balcony.
We said goodbye, they were leaving the next day & we went home.

Thanks alot Morticia!! What good info! I think you've changed my mind about where to stay! Sounds like the GC would be right for us, especially if we can use the pool at DLH. I know the kids would like that pool best.
You are going to love Poly, just in case you've never been. That was our first trip to DW so it holds a special place in my heart! We didn't do concierge but from what I've read it's the best in DW!! Maybe next trip! My husband is not in love with Disney like I am so it's hard to convience him. Thanks again!

You really can't use the DLH pool as a guest of the GC, & vice versa. If you stay @ the PP you can use the DLH pool, but I would not recommend that hotel. But the pool @ the GC is very nice. It's also less crowded. ;)
We stayed @ the Poly on our 1st trip to WDW also. It was our honeymoon 5 years ago & we did not stay concierge. I liked it very much.
I am so excited about our upcoming trip. I hope you are having fun DW mouser!!
