Concierge and ADRs (and Boardwalk vs. Contemporary?)

Hey all,

I'm thinking of splurging for a concierge room for my trip in September. Still unsure. Two questions I wanted to ask:

1) Given the difficulty these days in getting ADRs, to what extent will the concierge be able to help with this? I'm not talking about CRT or anything like that. Just normal restaurants.

2) Boardwalk concierge vs. Contemporary (12th floor)? Contemporary concierge has always been a dream of mine, but there's a significant price difference. Is it worth it?

3) If I do concierge, is it still worth getting the dining plan, given that we'll be getting food in the concierge lounge (i.e. we might not always want appetizers and desserts at our dinners)?

Thanks everyone!

We have only stayed concierge once at BC. We loved it. However, they were of no assistance getting ADR's for me. We wanted to change our Chef Mickey time and day, but had no luck. I have read on other threads that CL CM's can be very helpful in obtaining ADR's. Guess it just depends.

We have never done the dining plan, but when staying concierge it would be too much food for us. We would not spend that much on our meals if we were paying OOP. Two of my children would be charged as adults, but do not eat very much. My twelve year old daughter and I often share a meal as does my husband with my ten year old son.

I think you'll find answers vary and ultimately it will come down too whether or not you want to splurge for CL. Whatever you decide have a great time!

Wow, you picked my two favorite resorts! If Contemporary is a dream of yours go with that. We stayed at the Contemporary in March and loved it. Boardwalk is still my favorite, but the Contemporary is a close 2nd. The view is amazing. You either get a MK view or Bay Lake view. You can request what you want, but it is only a request. We had Bay Lake and it was beautiful, we had hawks flying by and can't even describe how nice it was. If you like MK, then Contemporary is well worth it. You can walk to MK and take the monorail back. We did this because we were too tired to walk after MK and Contemporary is the first stop on the way back. If you like Epcot, Boardwalk is wonderful, it is a short walk to Epcot. You could walk to MGM, but it is a walk. We always took the boat. Request a Boardwalk view if you can. I liked how everything at the Contemporary was just an elevator ride away. It seems so huge ( and it is) but once you get off the elevator you are right there. Boardwalk does have that typical Boardwalk Eastern style and is quite active. They are going to be doing some construction at the Contemporary and I am not sure when. That may be the only downfall. You could do like me and do a split stay and get the best of both worlds.

The food isn't really enough for dinner, but I don't think I would get the dining plan. You get snacks and hot offerings, cheese and crackers, fruit and such. Sometimes we would skip a table service meal, because the snacking was enough. My family are big eaters. I would just not like to feel I have to use up my dining credits if I wasn't in the mood for a whole meal. It just depends on what your family does. But the evening snacks are not full meals. You always get a light breakfast. Rolls, cereal, fruit and things. I believe bagels too. I can't eat any of that so I don't pay attention. I have allergies and they send me up special foods.

Sometimes the concierge has a little pull with ADR's. We had a hard time once and they were able to get us an ADR. They can't always but they try. I did get front row seating at the Luau once though.

Whenever my family and I have made last minute ADR's at WDW, it has always been done by the Cast Members who work on the Atrium Club floor of the Contemporary (Not by the Contemporary IPO which have nothing to do with the Cast Members on the Atrium Club) and they have always managed to get us the ADR. Some of the places we made last minute ADR's we have made were for such places like Chef Mickey's, Boma, 50's Prime Time Cafe and the Plaza.
