Hello!

I'm hoping to book a 1 bedroom concierge in October, but do not own at AKV, so will have to book at the 7 month mark. Am I crazy for even trying?

Thanks!

i did a search and only the 1st,2nd,4th and 28th were available. you could probably try to waitlist but those usually book up quick at the 11 month window.

Definitely try. But have a backup plan, as these usually go at 11 months. If you are not successful for this trip, maybe in the future you could try renting points from someone who owns there so that you could book at 11 months. Definitley go on-line at 8:00 AM eastern when the window opens.

There are only five 2-bedroom lock-offs that make up the Concierge Level at AKV Jambo House.

Finding any concierge room for more than a day or two consecutive days any time of year at 7 months is very difficult and even that day or two can be very difficult. You can try waitlist but there are only 5 two bedrooms (each can be a 1BR and studio) making the waitlist iffy.

Thanks All!

I'm learning that now :( We're west coasters, so typically use DVC at Disneyland, but make the trek out to WDW every few years. I really wanted to do the Sunrise Safari with DD (DH & I did the Wynama Safari (sp) when we stayed there on our honeymoon, and thought it would just be SO special.

Shoot even if I can get any concierge room for just one night (to qualify to do the safari) I'll take it. I believe it's offered Sunday/Thursday, so I'm not sure if that opens me to stay sat or Sun night or Wed or Thurs night or which would qualify us.

Fingers Crossed! If not, I'm sure we'll be able to get a room at AKV- we own at SSR, I'll probably call and book us at SSR now, just in case, but I'm not too worried.

You would need to stay either Saturday or Wednesday Night. Sunrise Safari check-in begins before 7 AM on Sunday and Thursday Mornings.

Two years ago I did the Sunrise Safari the same morning I checked in, so you may have a little more flexibility.

I'd prefer to stay Saturday night and be able to sleep a little later, instead of getting up even earlier on Sunday morning to travel to the resort to check-in.

We plan on staying at AKL regardless- so at least we'd be at the resort. Beggars can't be choosers right? :)

We've also done the safari on checkin day although it was not a one night stay. Personally I would rather do that than worry on checkout day about having everything packed up and out of the villa before the safari or rushing back to be out of the villa by 11. Breakfast doesn't start until about nine and after that you must hike to the front and catch a bus to AKL.

I just did this! We are BLT owners so I booked BLT 11 months out from our July vacation (this was my back up plan). When the 7 month window opened up I was able to change it to 2 nights concierge for a 2 bedroom at Samba!!! The booking CM told me it was the last room available. Then I had to call back 2 days later to book the rest of the trip for Kidani and got that too. So, don't be discouraged and call first thing at the 7 month mark. We're checking in on a Thursday so hoping to do the Sunrise Safari too. :)

Sign up for the Wild Africa Trek. It is a bit pricy, but very, very interesting and lots of fun. It lasts about three-four hours. You walk behind the animal enclosures and ride a special vehicle on the savanna, plus have an African snack in a Boma on the savanna. I thought it was way better than the Sunrise Safari.

I read about that in the Disney Files! How much is it, can you say? I'd love to do that...

The Wild Africa Trek ranges from $189 to $249 per person according to the Disney World website. Theme Park admission is required for both the Wild Africa Trek and the Sunrise Safari.

Looks awesome, Wild African Trek, but with 3 adults and 2 tweens, it'll be too expensive for us. I just sent concierge an email for the Sunrise Safari as that really is the only reason we booked concierge for 2 nights...forgetting it was only Thurs. and Sunday but then getting lucky and realizing our check in day is a Thursday. I am hoping we'll be allowed to do it.

When we were there in October, we signed up for a trip that started at 2:30PM or later and got a discount. For four adults we paid $502 (I think that was the cost), so it was a lot less than $189 to $249 per person.

Thanks! We still have two months before our booking window opens- but I won't give up hope! I know if it's meant to be, it will be :)

Thanks for sharing your success story!

Good luck to you!!!!

I was able to get 3 nights in a 1 br. in June for my birthday. The first two nights I got one day into my 7 month window (forgot to check at 7 mo window) and the third night I found available about a week later. All were found using the online system. MS was able to combine them into one reservation for me. SO excited to spend my birthday at AKV with club level.
Hope you can get a reservation too!!
