So have any of you New Englanders ever had the Conch Fritters at OKW? Just wondering if they are like our clam cakes.

There's nothing like Clam Cakes and Fried clams from New England.

I've never had conch fritters in WDW but I have had them in the Bahamas and in Key West, and i don't think they are that much like clam cakes.

I agree; there is nothing like New England Fried Clams!

I am not a New Englander but I did have those Conch Fritters and they were VERY GOOD!!!!!

I have not had them in WDW but we did have them in the Bristish Virgin Islands and thought they were very close to clam cakes....

I've had both and the OKW Conch Fritters are amazing and I like them better than our NE crab cakes. The OKW CF are shaped like hush puppies, oblong I guess. Crunchy on the outside, moist and spicy on the inside. They give you alot at OKW too! It all depends on where you get the crab cakes in NE too. Some are better than others or worse than others. Personally, I'd take the CF! I want some right now! :cutie:

But the best Fried Clams and Clam Cakes were McRay's in Westport, MA right on Rte 6.

They have now moved to Tiverton, RI, still good, but Westport's was the best, ever.

Even Emeril said so. :rotfl2:

Nothing like a clam cake. As Tink said they are crunchy on the outside and spicy on the inside, much like a husp puppy if you've ever had one of them. I've eaten at OKW many times and I think it is the most under-rated restaurant at WDW. Service and food have always been very good.

There's nothing like it at WDW anyway! When having seafood anywhere but New England (if your from there) you want to order something that you wouldn't normally get in New England and enjoy it for what it is. Being from Maine, I know not to try to get certain things in other places. But that is what is wonderful about other places, you can try new stuff. :)

P.S. Never order shrimp scampi in the UK. :crazy2:
