Why is it when a concert tickets go on sale on a specific day and time and I am right there online with the phone also in hand that I can never get the REALLY good seats? Now I know some of these tickets are taken by radio stations etc......but it's ridiculous to find the really good tickets already on ebay within moments of the concert going on sale! It just tees me off to no end that they can grab those tickets up in a heartbeat and then sell them for 6 to 8 times what they were being sold for minutes earlier! I did end up getting some OK tickets for BonJovi in July but the point is I was right on it at 10am (actually started a few minutes earlier and kept going) the same thing happened with the Chris Daughtry tickets in my area, they were gone in 10 minutes but low and behold there were plenty to be found on ebay........what's an average person have to do??? OK vent over at least I am seeing Jon again:cool1:

I do agree with this completely. Hockey is like this in our area. The 15th of every month, they SUPPOSEDLY go on sale at 10am..I try from ten and beforehand, and NOTHING:confused3 ..Concert tickets are the same way..I do believe it is about WHO you know

I have always had good luck getting the tickets to the shows I want to go. I think in some cases the venue does not sell the really good down in front seats because of fan club, celebrities, radio contests etc. so sometimes it's hard to get the good seats if you are the general public! Ebay makes me angry as well!

It's because of presales. Certain people can buy tickets earlier. Like fan club members, certain credit cards, aol members, etc. If you go to Ticketmaster for your specific event on the side it says what presales there are and when they start. I discovered the aol ones and I have aol, but 2 days too late to get floor seats! Oh well. Also, certain people who are connected to the event. I have a friend who's dh runs our arena and she sends out presales to people she knows, sometimes.

Our city built a small venue a few years ago. When concert tickets go on sale, I buy them at the box office and save the convenience and other extra charges that Ticketmaster adds to the price. I went to get Evanescence tickets and they actually opened the window almost ten minutes before 10am, which really surprised me. I don't know if TM opened early as well.

I know when American Idol went on sale here last year the tickets were sold out quickly. Of course you could get them on ebay, and they weren't even from local sellers.

I think the promoters need to put a stop to allowing the tickets to appear on ebay on the on-sale date, or even within a few days of it. It's so unfair.

If I can't get decent tickets for a show, I won't buy them. I keep on checking and usually can get good tickets either the day before or the day of the show. The venue usually holds back VIP tickets and sells them if the VIPs don't materialize.

I don't know if this always works, but for the most part I've had good luck at the last minute.

Yup, Los Lonely Boy tickets use to go on pre-sale a month or more before the general public, but this year, it's been a day or two and even then, the tickets have not been THE best. Not like last year. :(

I finally learned - after buying good seats on ebay. I join the fan clubs for the groups I know I am going to want to go see in concert. I then get presale tickets.

Actually that is how I got tickets to BonJovi last year, but this year it wasn't offered, I am also a Gold card AE member and Visa etc etc. but it doesn't always help. I guess my big problem is (and heaven knows, I have bought tickets off of ebay) but how in the world do they come by these tickets minutes after the tickets go on sale, and actually I have seen people on there with 20+ tickets to sell, I thought there was a limit. It just doesn't seem fair, be it a concert or a sporting event people should be given some equal opportunity..............and OH to add to the vent I finally got through on the phone and wouldn't you know it wasn't even a person! There I was spelling my name and saying it and then confirming it etc. etc It kinda reminds me of the Disney reservation line, hey let me talk to a person get it done with and move on to another customer! It had to have taken twice as long this automated way.

even the presale codes are crappy sometimes. I just went thought this with Disney on Ice. HS Musical. I didn't want the front row seats but wanted the $35 seats. They didn't release the better sections in this price range. I used to be able to get a lot closer. I noticed they are started to hold the first 10-12 rows in some sections and auction them off on their site. Not for charity or anything but just an auction.

Tomorrow morning they go on sale to the public and I will check first thing to see if they release better seats.

I have this problem also, especially when I try to go to events at the Verizon Center (in DC). For the life of me, I cannot get floor seats or even the section 100 seats.

I was really happy, though, with my Nissan Pavillion (in VA) experience. When I logged on at 10:00 a.m., I was immediately offered orchestra seating with the caveat that if I bought these seats, they would not be mailed to me. I would have to go the box office the night of the concert (not before) and show my original credit card and photo ID to get the tickets.

While it will be a major PITA to do this, I think it's great that they do this because it stops scalpers and EBay sellers and lets "normal" people just buy good seats.

Both of the venues go through Ticketmaster so I can't really blame Ticketmaster for lack of seats at the Verizon Center. It's just the policy of the venue.

I LOVE this idea!

I too love this idea! It allows the tickets to be sold for their normal price instead of someone buying them ahead just for the purpose of making money on the tickets and charging way more than what was paid. If you didn't live in the area then you wouldn't be able to pick them up. Some of the Daughtry tickets for the Saint Petersburg show were coming from Montana ( he actually had 20 tickets!) that to me is just wrong!!!! and his starting bid was twice of what they were sold for if you would have been able to get them.
