Has anyone ever bought concert tickets from E-bay? I am trying to land tickets to see Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden. What should I be aware of if I decide to do this, and how do I know the tickets are for real? I know I can check feedback, but is there anything else I should look for? TIA

Assuming they are ticketmaster tickets (likely they are) there really is no way to know until you have them if they are fake or not. If they're in my hands, I can spot a fake easily, so maybe you could go to the MSG ticket office and ask there-that's where my training came from. And even then, you can't know for sure really until they are scanned-the computer system can't just look them up for you, unfortunately.

My DH buys all his tickets to NFL games on Ebay. We were only burned once when the guy never mailed the tickets.

I've bought tickets on Ebay and have had no problem. Just like anything else on Ebay - check the feedback. It has to be either 100% positive (or pretty darn close) and hundreds of feedback ratings for me to do business with them of this nature (high-priced items). I actually sold a pair of tickets once that we weren't going to use also. The sale went smoothly and I crossed my fingers that the concert wouldn't get cancelled since I didn't want to deal with the rescheduling.

We got Wicked tickets on ebay for my in-laws for Christmas last year. The seller had 99.3% positive feedback. Well, right before my in-laws were to head out the door, I checked my email and the seller said they were no good (these were the instant Ticketmaster Tickets that you can print from the computer). Luckily, although throughly embarassed, I got in touch with my in-laws before they headed out the door. The seller did refund my money weeks later. I spoke directly to Ticketmaster about this and they said that they have had lots of problems with ebay sellers selling tickets that are no good and irrate people with these tickets at different events who get turned away.

I'm sure there are sellers on ebay with legit tickets and have had lots of smooth transactions, but I would never buy tickets on ebay again. And I consider myself one of the lucky ones since I got my money back! Proceed with caution. :worried:

I have purchased concert tickets and NFL tickets on e-bay. Like the others have stated, only purchase from people with great feedback and check the comments from buyers that have purchased tickets that have actually been to the events. I haven't had any problems so far.
