I want to know from people who know, is this really safe for kids? I realize I need to have an eye on my DD and monitor, but well informed is smart!

What advise can you give me besides the norm, to keep her safe.

Thanks

I hope this does not sound rude but this is the second post you have started on this subject. I responded to that one maybe my answer was not what you were looking for.

So to help us understand what it is you are concerned about so we can help allivate your fears/concerns what exactly are you concerned about?

I think its pretty safe. I dont do anything different when my DS is playing, I just keep an eye on him and I tell him daily not to give out personal info...standard stuff.

I hope your DD has fun :goodvibes

Mal sorry I totally forgot I posted that! :guilty: I will edit that now and put it as duplicate.

Thanks for the info !!!!

DD is one for her first time and asked me if she could "get a bf?" now that concerns me! I just read the post about it, but I still do not like it! arggg

it is very annoying. They can not do anything virtually and can not exchange info such as name, address, age, phone etc

If it really concerns you then discuss it with her(not sure of her age) and explain that you do not mind her having "guy" friends on VMK as well as "girl"friends you do not think it is appropriate to have a BOYFRIEND.

While I have never been to one of these boyfriend/girlfriend or model rooms so I really can not comment on what goes on in them.

I feel this is a very safe game for most children.

I just read the post by your daughter asking if there were other sites like VMK!

I would strongly discourage you from letting her visit these sites. They are Adult focused games and not in my op appropriate for children esp an 11 year old.

Very adult content and material!

I saw the make out room once and wondered what the heck could they do in there?
I stood in the doorway and just observed for a fairly short time. (About as long as I could stand it. :rotfl: ) Just very juvenile "do you want to be my BF/GF" stuff that you see most anywhere on VMK.
There was a lot of talk of being "merry". (Married was my understanding.)
I think it is just typical preteen/teen fun. Much safer and less hurtful to do it on line and still feel as though they belong. But they seem in such a hurry to grow up without a clue as to what they are talking about.

that is my take on it also....can not see what harm can be done but then my DS(8)thinks BF/GF are gross!

Thanks Mal! She isn't allowed anywhere on line without permission- so she would ask first if she found out there was one and I would NOT let that kind of site fly.

Thanks!!

that is good that she still asks.

I have read some things about Habbo Hotel that would curl your toes!

orry I missed you this afternoon but right now I can not even stay in VMK for more than 5 minutes at a time before my computer disconnects from the internet!

Do not know what is causing this but I know I AM OVER IT!!!!

Have fun

Hi mal i just wanted 2 know how do i get my vmk player below my writing? Also concerned dont let your kid on gaia my best friend go on the site and they said a ton of stuff that was just gross and just wrong lol ok

imho, she probably hears stuff fifty times worse in school then anywhere anytime on vmk.

i agree with that but this is the internet they are both vey differant but i still agree with u

My brother is a police officer and "my space" is the worst - your kids on my space are easy targets. I deleted my daughters account once I found it on my computer :badpc: She was steaming mad!

Personally, I would not allow children to log onto the Internet until they are 25. There is so much garbage on there, they should have their own sanitation dept. :sad2:

Okay, so if your dd wants to do something else like vmk, why not try ToonTown online? You don't type anything in, you have this thing called speed chat, the words are selected. The only way to defeat the bad guys is to throw a pie, squirt them with water, blow into a horn, or drop something on them. There are much, much more gags. You get free cards and monthly news letters in the mail that include games. I have I code I got on vmk for a 14 day trail that I'm not going to use, I'm already on it and it is very safe. And a bit funny. This month they will have a big race track thing called Goofy's Speedway.
