I have knee problems, and at times walking down stairs can hurt like someone is stabbing me in the knee. I've been lucky not to have to have that happen when at Disney, but since I heard about the GAC and the stamps I felt better knowing it was there if I needed it. Now the DAS has replaced the GAC, and with no stamps I'm not sure if there is something in place that would let me just skip stairs if I needed to. I have no issue with waiting in line, and would be willing to wait until those around me before the stairs got to the bottom to rejoin the line. I would just like to know if there is something in place that would allow me to not have take the stairs if it would be painful for me.
Or would I just have to try and explain at any ride with stairs that I look normal, am walking around the park just fine, but can't go down stairs without pain?

You will simply need to inform the CM at each attraction with stairs of your need to avoid them. They'll direct you appropriately to the accessible queue -- which may be the standby until you reach a certain point where they'll split you off. If you need to know which attractions have stairs, check the disAbilities FAQ sticky at the top of this forum, and it should be noted in the accessible guide map available at Guest Relations in the park.
