Concerned about how FULL MNSSHP's are. Arent they meant to be limited tickets?

Ive read alot on here and other boards, plus spoken to a few MNSSHP goers, who were all saying Disney had been greedy and sold too many tickets per event, thus making it very crowded!
We go on wed 12th Oct, when I brought our tickets, over the phone from the Uk the CM said it was a strictly limited number of people per party. However friends or ours said it was far MORE crowed that ever ??? :confused3

Any thought on how we can manage this with a DD4 and its our first experience of MNSSHP.

Out of interest, how many people do attend the party, if its a sell out ?

No one knows for sure but rumors this year say it's 30,000 tickets. Its a Disney secret so that may not be true.

This past Friday was sold out. I'll bet most going just didn't expect that and were shocked. It was probably sold out because it was a Friday, it was the last party during the free dining promo, and it was a long holiday weekend.

I've gone Halloween night (always a sell out) and although it is crowded, its still manageable and great fun.

Oct 12 is a Thursday so I think its safe to say your night will not sell out.

If you have a plan and set priorities, you'll do fine.

Most report that the lines for rides were small but the lines for photopass and characters were long. Most report that although main street seemed very crowded, other parts of the park weren't. Many also report that although the candy lines looked long, they moved fast.

We were there on Friday 29th. It was very full. The lines for trick or treating were huge. The lines for pictures were huge. However, the ride lines were very short. I think that you should have less people because you are going on a Wed. It's a school night so there shouldn't be as many locals.

Thanks for the info, im gald we did pick a mid week date, that was more by luck than judgement ! ;)

My DD wants to do the dance parties, see the characters and villians. I guess we can trick or treat later in the night, so we dont have to carry to much candy!

Anyone have any thoughts on getting to see cinders coach, should we do that first?

The tickets are "limited" - but as a PP mentioned - no one knows what that "limited" number is!!!!

Local Orange County schools are on break 12th & 13th, so DD and I are going on the 12th - that way she has not been in school all day, and does not have to get up the next morning to go to school. We wen on 9/22, and she was tired by 9:00 from the school day.

I just attended my third MNSSHP on the 29th, and found it to be the most crowded ever. The above posters are correct in that Disney is selling more and more tickets than before, and weekday vs. weekend certainly impacts.

More crowds, thus more congestion, especially around parades and Hallowishes, but ride lines remained short or walk on this year - and all the more interesting costumes to admire on fellow guests!!!

We also found that with the Christmas party; the lines were awful, even for the rides. We decided it was a waste of time and money.

I think the number of tickets sold this year were increased. We went Friday night and it was sold out. We've gone other times when it was sold out and it wasn't anything like Friday. This time it was really packed, the crowds were impressive. :bitelip: However, the lines for the rides weren't bad at all. :confused3 We waited 10 minutes for Peter Pan. In the past, the park crowds start to dissipate around 10 or so, not Friday. :teeth: We had a good time, but didn't get to see the parade this year.

I just wanted to add that the longest line for candy that we encountered was at the entrance to Adventureland, we skipped it. All the others were short and fast moving. :thumbsup2

In 2005, the only night to sell out was Halloween. Looking at reports from 2005, a sold out Halloween night feels fairly crowded, so I don't think Disney is selling more tickets than last year. It's just that people were not expecting sellout crowds in September! As others have noted, it was a sort of 'perfect storm' of free dining, a friday night, and extra attendance from locals.

Also, as most have noted, rides were not long waits, it was for candy and characters (which is why a lot of people do MNSSHP!). I'll bet the party last night (Oct 2) was less crowded - there may have been a few hang-ons from the free dining, but I doubt it was that bad.

I'm going to bet Oct 12 will be a tad crowded, due to local school breaks, but it's a mid-week date, and there's no free dining, so you'll probably be fine. I would be shocked if it was a sellout.

Oct 13 was a sell-out also. Here's a picture of the sign showing the sold out dates (taken on Oct 20)....

Edited to add that Oct 13 was a Thursday last year, so yes, Oct 12 will probably be crowded.

wow, that's so interesting. Is it because of Columbus Day? I'm just curious. That leads me to believe this Oct 13 may actually sell out as well.

wow 30,000 people in MK sounds PACKED, what on earth is it like on a busy summers day in school holidays!

YIKES!

We were going to do a 2nd MNSSHP but I think we will have to skip it, we were only going to do the 2nd one, as we were under the impression it was going to be very empty.... WRONG!

We are at Universal in their hotel, so DH wants to stay there an extra night and have 2 days FOTL access instead. Which does sound a better idea.

Lets hope the 12th isnt toooo bad. This will be a "once in a life time thing" for us.

There is NO party on Friday, Oct. 13th this year. The next party after Oct. 12th isn't until Monday, Oct. 16th, so bet the usual weekend partiers will be there on Thursday the 12th.

I also thought that it was crowded on the 29th. And the sign said "Sold Out" I called a friend to let her know and she went to G.S. of the Hotel and was still able to buy tickets. :confused3 Which I think they were doing for the people that were staying on property.

I meant Oct 12.

You're forgiven. :)

The fact that there isn't a Friday party next week makes the Thursday (Oct. 12) party much more crowded, especially with local schools out the 12th and 13th.

Oh what a bummer, we choose a day when loads of kids are off school!! Typical !!!

The Unofficial Guide says the average daily attendence at MK in 2005 was 44,100. They also say a packed day like Christmas in the MK is over 90,000.
