Is anyone concerned about the new discovery that terrorists are mailing/couriering bombs?

I returned from the world on Sept 29th via SWA.

While on board waiting for the plane to load, I glanced out the window and noticed that there were 2 large mail containers to be loaded onto our plane.

I mentioned to my husband that I hoped that the contents were scanned as closely as the passengers and luggage.

Seems, that the mail isn't :scared1:

From what I've now read in the news this last couple of days, If a company puts a "secure" label on a package, it is loaded without any further investigation :confused3

My question is.... WHY AREN'T PACKAGES SCANNED?????

I have a little concern re my upcoming trip to the world in January, and hope this issue is resolved before then

Anyone else worried?

I don't worry. If you worry you would never fly anywhere.

I get more annoyed that these people are causing normarl everyday people to have to go through more increased scanning. But I feel safe with flying.

Now I would never board an air Yeman flight or something similar.

I always worry when I get on a plane. I think we'll never be the same after 9-11. But I'm not worried more. The last terorist bombings in Mubai, India took place while dh was flying into the airport there. Made me sort of realize that, for it to happen to us, you really would have to be in the exact wrong place at the wrong time.

I worry more about how our economy and the airlines would far eif there were another attack.

I have 1 daughter living in Manhatten and the other in Orlando-working at Disney. When something like this happens along..It makes the hairs stand up on my neck a little for sure. I don't worry sooo much about the flying aspect because I am pretty picky about who I fly with, but I do worry because they are both where they are.

Almost every passenger flight that arrives in Canada is carrying large amounts of cargo. And no it is not screened to the same level as passengers.

And maybe this is the "flaw" that the terrorists are working on? :scared1:

Perhaps the government should re-consider this "flaw" in regards to passenger safety? :confused3

It wouldn't delay flights if the cargo had to be scanned in a facility prior to loading

Heck, we passengers have to go through taking our shoes off, opening up laptops and camera's, subjected to searches of luggage and now the body scans :rolleyes1

It's time to do something about this, before something happens! :upsidedow

(Off my soap-box now.... but still concerned :sad2: )

You don't think it would delay flights? Increase costs? Slow cargo transport to a crawl?
M.

Myabe it would and maybe it wouldn't, I can't say for sure and neither can you.

But I think if it was organized efficiently, like I said previously, in a seperate facility prior to loading - this could be scheduled, just like the flights are.

It may increase the cost for the cargo, maybe even a little for the passengers, but wouldn't you prefer to be safe? :confused3 I know I would
