Conceirge...which one?

Hello everyone :)

I hope everyone is having a healthy and happy new year.

I have a friend who would like to send her parents for her mothers 60th birthday to WDW (her sister is an employee of ABC....and therefore would get a discount). I told her about the conceirge, but didn't know which to recommend. Could any of you help me with a recommendation....and why.

Also, which phone number should she contact to make these reservations (conceirge)?

Thank you and look forward to your responses.

Are you referring to the Concierge Collection that is part of DVC, or simply booking a Concierge-level room at one of the Walt Disney World resorts?

disneyatheart,
You will find a lot of really informative posts about concierge over on the resorts board (and I would not be surprised if this thread does not get moved over there very soon). You would book through the normal Disney number (407-WDISNEY). As to what resort to recommend, it very much depends on the person. Is she a kid at heart? If so, I would recommend the Poly - you are close to the monorail, the lounge has a great view across the lake to MK, and you can watch the EWP and Wishes from there if you would like. Is she more adventurous? Try AKL - great food, live animals in the savannahs, wonderful cast and a different atmosphere from any of the other hotels. Does she like elegance? I would recommend BW or YC concierge (GF is another good choice here, although I happen to prefer the other two).

Hope this helps!
Mike

I've stayed CL in every deluxe resort at WDW. My favorite is the AKL, and I also love the Polynesian.

But, if I were taking my mom, I'd book the BWI. It's the quietest, the least number of kids, and a close walk to Epcot where I suspect they'll spend the most time.

I like the Epcot Resort area concierges-the IPO people are awesome-really can't go to wrong with any of them (although I prefer the Yacht Club so far).

Very excited-just had to share-saved $148.48 (incl tax) per night at BC-CL for spring break using AP code! Gotta love those codes!

I second (or third?) the vote for the BWI concierge. The staff truly is extraordinary and the resort is beautiful. Though the GF is regarded as the best resort on property, having stayed there for many years and recently switching to the BWI, I can tell you there's no comparison between the BWI and the GF. The BWI is fantastic.

I would ask your friend to ask her parents if they have a preference as to a resort and/or resort location. Based upon their answer, I would book that resort. Perhaps they have a favorite, or perhaps they have a resort that they have always wanted to try.

Having an employee discount would probably make any room in any resort attainable (how nice). I would also consider "bumping" up the room category for the parents. If they want to stay in a DVC resort, I would "bump" them from a studio into a one-bedroom villa. If they want to stay in a deluxe room in any of the deluxe resorts, I would "bump" that deluxe room into a one-bedroom suite. That would make the 60th birthday celebration just the more memorable.

I have had a few lovely concierge stays at the Grand Floridian over the past year or two, my most recent one being in October. I have also had a few lovely concierge stays at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Those two resorts are my family's favorites. Each resort is unique and has something a little different to offer. For the Grand, it is a stately charm. For the AKL, it is a walk on the wild side.

I agree with Anne... I think that for your friend's mom, the Boardwalk Inn would be just the ticket! If she is into really the Victorian era, then she may enjoy the Grand Floridian, as well.

Hope your friend's mom has a beautiful stay and a wonderful 60th birthday. What a sweet daughter she is to give this as a gift to her for her birthday!

I agree with Janet...ask.

I'm not that far away from 60 and have no desire to stay at BWI. I very much doubt we will ever do so. The rooms look lovely although small compared to the Polynesian and GF. And most everyone does have nice things to say about concierge there. But the whole Boardwalk area just does not appeal to my DH and I at all. We just wouldn't enjoy that area. Different strokes...

We have enjoyed our Sugar Loaf stays and love the Polynesian concierge
experience.

What a wonderful gift!
