I stayed at Poly in May and had a Pal Mickey waiting in the room for the kids. All they need is a credit card to make the purchases. I agree, I would limit the items to things they can readily get and the number of requests. They were more than happy to help out when I called.
As well, here's a great hint. My last two trips to Poly, I purchased items at home (disposable cameras, mister bottles, etc.) and had them shipped to the hotel prior to our arrival. Last Sept., I had a small gift a day for the girl's (hand lotions, a toe nail painting kit, a necklace, etc.) Each day concierge placed an item on the table. My kid's were thrilled and could not wait to return to see what they had waiting for them.
In May, my DS & DD went and I shipped some Disney Beanies I picked up at the DS, snacks, etc. Basically, they each had a "goodie basket" waiting for them on the bed when they arrived. I bought items like candy bars, snack bags of chips, etc. that I knew they could not get in concierge and much cheaper to buy at home. It certainly limited our time and dollars buying snacks for two teenagers.
