So, I'm trying to make an all-in-one backup of all my stuff, from TV series to movies, pictures to music. I have about 3TB of data. So far I have split it between a 1TB SD card, a few 512GB SD cards and a few 512GB USB thumb drive. None of these are ideal. SD cards aren't too reliable and the thumb drives are rather slow. So I dug deep and bought a 4TB external HDD. Didn't damn well work. Refused to format, mount, erase, anything. So I had another brainwave - cloud storage! AGAIN, another drawback - uploading to a cloud is ALSO slow as a snail! So now I've returned the initial HDD to Amazon and have gone direct to Apple. Same capacity, $30 more. But it's Apple, so you'd hope they were on the up and up.

Here's hoping!

You're talking about Time Machine, or Apple's iCloud? I'd highly recommend Time Machine, and many people suggest doing both. (I'm doing iCloud and TM to two different drives in two different parts of the house.)
