Computer Problems - Please Help!!

I am not a good problem solver when it comes to computers - I just know my way around a little bit.

I believe my problem started a couple of weeks ago (when I tried to download the Magical Disney Cruise Guide). The problem is it is ALWAYS freezing up on me and it is running so ssssslllllooooowwwww. This is a fairly new computer and it has windows XP - I believe it is 2 years old. Also, everytime I put my computer on some virtual bouncer / ad destroyer pop up comes on telling me there is a parasite on my computer.

I should mention this is a DELL and I cannot find a phone number to call for tech support.

What do I do to get it running the way it was a couple of weeks ago?
