I think they're the same thing, aren't they? Or maybe a notebook is smaller/thinner??

Notebooks are usually smaller than a laptop... supposedly they claimed those to be the size of a notebook (real original name there ) Those are older terms too that don't seem to be used as much anymore. Most are about the same size now and I usually only hear of laptops now.
