Computer help?

I was wondering if anyone was handy with computers so i wont have to take it to a tech?

when clicking on links.... a new window will open but its completely blank.....
i have tried almost everything do you know what causes this and how it can be fixed??

PS i cant find my recovery disc...


Thanks guys im desperate and hate to spend all that money if its easily fixed

More than likely you have a virus or spyware that has attacked your computer. Try going to www.webroot.com and downloading a trial version of spybot. It is a great program and may help. If you can't download it, you can buy it for $30 at walmart and most other stores.

I am not an expert, but I play one on TV!

You may have a virus or spyware, or you may have a missing or corrupt file. If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, try reinstalling it. The setup file should be on your hard drive. Locate your Internet Explorer folder. (Mine is located at c:\program files\Internet Explorer). You should have a file that has 'setup' in the name, and an extension of '.exe'. I have Internet Explorer version 6, so my file is called 'ie6setup.exe'. Double click it to run the installation. If you are using an online service like AOL or MSN which uses its own browser, try reinstalling that. Another possibility is that you are missing a java file. I got overzealous in cleaning out my computer one time and accidentally deleted a file that java needed to display images on the web (and I am a software technician!). When I would click on a link to an image, I would just get a blank window with an X in the corner. If that is the case, you may get a message when you boot up telling you it can't find a certain file.

If you have a virus scanner or spyware scanner, make sure they are updated, and run them. If you don't have these, get them. It costs about $30 a year for a subscription to McAfee Virus Scanner, and you can just download it from their site. Spybot is a great spyware program, and it can be downloaded from a number of sites for free.
