Computer Help!!!!!!

Maybe someone can help.... a few weeks ago I ran a program called backtrack on our computer because some of my programs would not work and I was at wits end. I can now get in the programs but my anti-virus will not work. I've also lost my programs from the add/delete programs in the My Computer file. I can run programs - they're just not in this file anymore.

I can also run the anti-virus program to check for viruses but it is not always on like before. I tried to reload from my disk but it says I already have an updated version (which I do but I can't find it under programs). I've updated it from the virus website.... everything...... I also get all kinds of message when starting up that it is not working.

On top of that, my daughter downloaded a Kazaa program without my permission...... now we're getting pop-ups that are adult oriented and cannot get rid of them. It also takes over my home internet page. I've run an ad-aware program to get rid of pop-ups, deleted unknown programs, etc. which works for awhile but then comes back. Also, seems to activate with use of the printer in addition to other times.

Sorry this is so long - I'm sure the answer will be I need to bring it in...... most things I can fix on my own but WOW - nothing is working. Any insights would be appreciated...... I can get the computer to work as you can see but it takes awhile. Very frustrating Thanks for any insight......

Not quite sure I can help, but did you restore your computer to an earlier point, before you downloaded that program?

Have you deleted or uninstalled Kazaa?

Thanks to you both..... I still haven't figured out the anti-virus thing but at least I can run it to check for viruses....

I went into the back track program and found a change had been made which I deleted - fixed most of the problem.... thanks! And yes, Kazaa is gone, too! What a headache!
