Can anyone tell me if it is possible to print out a copy of the files listed in the "temporary internet files" folder? If so, how?

Trying to compile evidence against a co-worker breaking into my office & using my computer to surf for porn. They're too stupid to cover their tracks, and I need hard copies to bring to management. I don't want to have to hand write this info (just reading it makes me nauseous!) Blech - I need to sanitize my screen!

Having been in this position once, I would recommend that you actually contact HR or management and ask them to come check your computer. Trying to print out things doesn't provide the verification you really need. In my case, they needed to see it on the computer and then use a computer specialist to determine the times and dates that the stuff was downloaded. So, rather than trying to 'prove' it yourself, maybe you should go to them directly and have them examine your computer. it's actually their job to assemble a case against the other employee and you probably don't need to get in the middle.

I'm not a computer-person, but I think the following might work....

*Bring in a digital camera, take pics of the screen/work-area, proving it's your computer. Take pics of the listing and print it out as a photo (maybe do the printing at home, so co-worker won't know)

*Highlight the entire listing.
Hit "Copy" (Copy it to your clipboard)
Paste it into a a word document & print that out
or
Paste it into a New E-mail message and print that e-mail out.

*If it's possible to do at work, you could even buy a keystroker program that logs Every.Single.Key-stroke on your computer.

I know that some of the more tech-savvy DIS'ers will happen along with more/better ideas.

Also what swanmom said.

They're aware of the situation. This is a small family-owned operation, so no extensive IT or HR support. If I can get a screen shot, it shows the time & date that the files were accessed.

I've tried the copy / paste, but it only highlights the name of the cookie file. It helps, but I'd really like to capture the time & date stamp as well.

I assume you're on a PC?

hit
ctrl and print Screen

then paste to word doc or notepad

print maybe small, so max your scrren first

HTH

I think doing a screen capture depends on what kind of OS you have & if your computer is a PC or a Mac.

Maybe you could post this query on Tech Support? Caskbill is the Mod, he's quite helpful as are some of the regulars (especially Dan Murphy).

On my laptop, I can hit Function-Prt Sc (print screen), then paste the screen shot into Word.

Not sure what the feature is on your keyboard, but you can copy and paste screen shots as pictures.

On my computer, it's Ctrl-Prt Sc. Good luck.

Do you run any kind of Anti-Virus ?

I know mine will tell you were and when you were there.

hit ctrl and print Screen then paste to word doc and you can print it from there.

Blech - I need to sanitize my screen!

Do not to forget to sanitize the keys & the mouse :scared1: :scared1:

Good luck

Thanks! I tried the Print Screen suggestions, but I'm not having any luck. Not sure why I can't get a response from my printer.

It doesn't print automatically. You need to paste it into Word or Excel, and then print it out.

Running an AV program is how I was keyed into the questionable files in the first place. I knew someone was using my computer, but figured it was legit. I complained to a co-worker about the couple of files that showed up during the AV scan, and he suggested checking out the Temp Internet files. OMG! Not something I wanted to see (although I must admit some of the website names are just hilarious. Disgusting, but hilarious.)

The suggestions for sanitizing my worksurfaces....Oh, you have no idea! Blech....just gak!

Shouldn't the files in the active screen highlight when I choose this function?.

Nevermind.....

GOT IT!!! I changed from CTRL to ALT and it worked!

THANKS so much!!!

I was a bit late...Glad you got the screen shot. Good luck in making the ickiness stop.

Ok, I am not sure this will help, but this is how I access my Temp files. First, I run Vista on a PC.

Go into control panel

Hit Network and Internet files

Hit internet settings

hit settings under browsing history

hit view files

hit view in top tool bar

choose details

Hit last checked until earliest to latest

I have a "snipping tool" It is found under Accessories in all Programs

use that to capture a Jpeg

Then it can be printed as a picture

or it can be emailed as a picture
