When I sat down at my computer this morning, all I can get is the blue Windows XP screen and a message that says "LogMeInRemoteUser", then a space for a password. I have no clue what this is - when I went to bed last night my computer was still signed on (we have cable). I can't do anything with it. I noticed it acting weird yesterday, like it had been rebooted but I had never logged off. I noticed it when I tried to access message boards or other things that had a saved password, and I had to re-enter everything. Does this sound like a virus or maybe someone has hacked into my computer?

We have this on our PC so that DH can acess home from work. It allows someone to log onto your computer from a remote location. Is it possible that someone in your house downloaded it? If not I would delete it and change all my passwords to be safe.

Log Me In is a program that you can install on your computer so that when you are somewhere else using another computer, you can log in to your home machine. Maybe your DH installed it and didn't tell you? Their website is here - https://secure.logmein.com/ .

Thanks for the replies. I asked my dh and he doesn't know anything about the log me in pprogram. Of course now he thinks I downloaded something that's crashed our computer, but I haven't any idea what this is. This happened overnight, and my computer was working fine when I went to bed last night. I guess I'm going to have call the Geek Squad or someone out to help me, because the computer is locked up and I don't know what the password is to this log me in thing. At least I can use my dd's computer until mine gets fixed.

That is really freaky. I asked DH (he's a computer techie guy) and he said that your computer may have been broken into a while ago and now it's been taken over. He said you should unplug it from the internet.

Good idea. My DH is also computer geek/engineer. He said the login screen w/password on Log me in is actually to log into another PC.On the toolbar on bottom of screen there should be an icon but you may need to click on the arrow on toolbar to see it.It looks like a gray box with a rainbow shaped bunch of blue dots. If you right click on it commands will pop up and one is Disable log me in.
