Our computer just died so I had to order a new one. Seeing how I am NOT really a computer guru ... I went with some advice from a salesman and now I'd like to hear how I really did! :confused3

We use the computer for email, internet, digital picture uploading. Would like to be able to burn dvds. That's about it.

Here are the specs:

AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core 4200+
2 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHz-2DIMMs
160 GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM) w/Databurst Cache
13 in 1 media card reader
Windows XP Media Ctr. Edition with express upgrade to Vista
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW
Integrated 10/100 Ethernet
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Integrated Graphics
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Microsoft Works 8
Roxio MyDVD Plus
IEEE 1394 Adapter

Thanks for any comments you may have! :wizard:

With the specs listed it should do everything you want it to do quite well.

thanks...

It's a dell.. and it was about $1100. Hopefully I did ok price wise too!

It sounds pretty good but I really wanted to say...

Lovin' the AMD :)

Rich::

I was gonna say the same thing...I'm a Mac girl but my PC is an AMD and it runs so much better than DS Pentium. His computer is SO slow and it is the newest one!

Thanks! The puppies are a bit older now, but they're still cute all the same! ;)

So glad to hear lovin' the AMD. I struggled between that and Intel.

don't buy a Dell with an integrated graphics card. buy a model up with a swappable one.

Not a bad system for the price. Maybe a little high priced. That system is geared for gaming and multimedia. It may be more than you need, but it will serve you well into the future.

As for the integrated graphics: If you decide later on to upgrade the graphics adapter, you should be able to turn off the integrated graphics adapter and install another. Or, install another graphics adapter and another monitor and dual-monitor.
